Job description

DebtBook is the financial platform powering treasury and capital markets across the public sector. State and local governments, public universities, health systems, and the bankers and advisors who serve them run trillions of dollars in debt, cash, and investments on DebtBook.

We’ve built the most sophisticated treasury platform in public finance — sitting at the intersection of treasury management and a $4 trillion fixed income market that’s been waiting for modern infrastructure.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

DebtBook’s Product team is responsible for designing and developing easy-to-use products that enable finance teams around the country to effectively manage their debt, cash, and investments.

We are looking for a detail-obsessed, highly-collaborative Associate Product Manager to support our Cash products — bank connectivity, cash positioning, cash forecasting, reconciliation, and payment workflows. You will be the connective tissue between our customers, Customer Success, and Product & Engineering: turning real bank data and customer feedback into product improvements and ensuring new customers are onboarded with accurate data. This is a hands-on role. You will work with the guidance and mentorship of Product Directors and PMs, executing within established playbooks and procedures while building the judgment and domain expertise — treasury operations, bank data, cash workflows — to operate with increasing independence.

If bank files, cash positions, and the question of why two numbers don’t match are the kind of problem you want to spend your days on, this is the role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Associate Product Manager you will:

  • You will support early-adopter and customer calls, preparing bank data and analysis ahead of time and capturing structured notes on what treasury teams actually need
  • You will support the Product team with data collection and analysis — product usage, customer feedback, and support trends that inform roadmap prioritization
  • You will assist PMs with product research, market analysis, and requirements, drafting user stories and acceptance criteria under their direction
  • You will help maintain and improve internal tooling, templates, and repeatable processes (including AI-assisted workflows) that make bank onboarding and analysis faster with every customer
  • You will field product and data questions from Customer Success, Sales, and Support, building stable working relationships across teams and steadily becoming a go-to resource on how our Cash products work under the hood
  • You will analyze and map customer bank data during onboarding and implementation — bank exports, BAI2 and CSV files, account structures, transaction codes, and cash projection inputs — following established playbooks and partnering with Customer Success to get customers live quickly and accurately
  • You will help diagnose bank feed and file issues: missing days, changed formats, unexpected transaction types, duplicate activity, and accounts that stop reporting
  • You will investigate reconciliation exceptions, working out why bank transactions and projected cash activity disagree and turning the pattern you find into a product improvement
  • You will own testing for the products you support, writing clear and reusable test cases that cover standard flows, edge cases, and failure scenarios, and building the test data (bank files, account and transaction variations) needed to validate them
  • You will reproduce and document product defects and data issues, writing clear, well-structured tickets that engineers can act on without a second round of questions
  • You will validate fixes and confirm expected behavior before release, acting as a quality checkpoint alongside Engineering
  • You will own part of the Go to Market motion of your Product Domain by keeping help center content and walkthrough videos current as functionality ships, so customers and internal teams are working from accurate documentation
  • You will share a regular read on product usage, customer feedback, and notable trends with Product and go-to-market teams
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in an analyst, finance, or product role — or strong internship/co-op experience with demonstrated analytical rigor; this is an early-career role and we’ll teach you the domain
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis, with comfort working with large, messy datasets; you can reconcile two files that disagree and explain why
  • Exceptional attention to detail — you notice when a number is off by a few cents, and it bothers you until you know why
  • Strong written communication; you can turn a confusing customer report into a crisp problem statement
  • Curiosity about how money actually moves and a willingness to go deep on treasury concepts (bank accounts and account structures, transaction types, ACH and wires, cash positions, cash forecasting) — prior knowledge is a plus, but genuine interest is required
  • Experience using AI tools in a real analytical workflow — or genuine enthusiasm to go deep quickly
  • Motivated and proactive, with strong teamwork skills and an eagerness to learn and adapt
  • Comfort in a fast-moving environment; able to operate effectively through periods of uncertainty, ambiguity, and change

Preferred qualifications

  • Exposure to treasury, banking, payments, or public sector finance (cash positioning, cash forecasting, bank data integration, bank portals, treasury or payment operations)
  • Familiarity with bank data formats and delivery (BAI2, CSV exports, ISO 20022, SFTP or API feeds)
  • Familiarity with payment workflows and rails (ACH, wires, RTP, check and positive pay)
  • Basic understanding of the product development lifecycle and familiarity with project management tools (e.g., GitLab, Jira)
  • SQL or scripting skills for data analysis
  • Experience with B2B SaaS products or product analytics tools
  • Experience onboarding or supporting customers on external data feeds or integrations

GROW Continuously

  • We believe in continuous improvement, never accepting the status quo as good enough, and iterating to move quickly without compromising on quality.
  • We are energized by the fast-paced rate of change that growth demands and see new challenges as opportunities for resilience and personal development.
  • We are driven by curiosity to think creatively, innovate, and experiment, and we humbly incorporate lessons learned from success and failure along the journey.

OWN Your Outcomes

  • We hold ourselves accountable for exceptional effort, execution, reliability, professionalism, and results that add tremendous value for customers.
  • We are all individual contributors, responsible for delivering value to our customers, team, and company with every action we take.
  • As managers, we lead by example in both what we do and how we do it, and stay personally familiar with the work as we coach our teams.
  • We follow through on our decisions and commitments with action.

ABOVE & Beyond

  • We create moments of magic, surprising and delighting our customers at every touchpoint.
  • We run towards problems and enthusiastically jump in to help colleagues however we can be valuable.
  • We take pride in proactively doing the extra little things that set us apart, even when no one is watching.

TEAM Over Ego

  • There is no task needed at DebtBook that is beneath any of us.
  • We work hard to be the teammate others want on their team.
  • We have the courage to have hard conversations and the grace to receive honest feedback in pursuit of excellence.
