Job summary

Hyosung HICO LTD. Memphis plant is seeking a manufacturing technician to perform basic operations on equipment used in drying, oil processing, and related processes for power transformers.

Candidates should have a high school education, basic math, ability to read drawings, and experience with hand and power tools. The role involves safety practices, TPM tasks, 6S, overhead crane and forklift operation, and teamwork.

Job description

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Perform basic operations on various machines and equipment relating to the drying, oil processing, dry air, and other processes of power transformers.
• Perform manufacturing tasks such as basic mechanical assembly, loading and unloading of machinery and operation of non-CNC equipment; hand tools, measurement equipment and oil filling equipment as examples.
• Perform basic tasks to move liquid materials within tank farm and from tank farm to factory.
• Perform basic tasks in the setup and operation of oil purification, oil heating, and other oil handling equipment.
• Perform operation of complicated machines and equipment with rigid tolerances.
• Assist in the preparation of work to meet manufacturing and schedule requirements.
• Confirm quality criteria is properly inspected, verified and documented during manufacturing to ensure product meets specifications, tolerances, prints and customers order requirements, Identify and correct defects appropriately.
• Perform basic electrical tests to confirm proper wiring and insulation per specification.
• Follow prints, bills of material, specifications and work instructions to determine proper component parts for processing, assembly and installation.
• Follow and comply with standard work procedures and sequence of operations to consistently meet manufacturing standards for safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
• Safely move, handle and store materials without damaging items.
• Perform TPM tasks as directed for each job or area.
• Practice 6S and adhere to all safety rules, guidelines and safe working practices.
• Safely operate material handling and lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, motorized scissors lifts and work platforms, and air transporters.
• Assist other manufacturing areas as needed.
• Support and assist the Manufacturing Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager as needed.
• Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate Hyosung HICO policy and/or procedure.
• Know Hyosung HICO’s Quality and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

Education/Special Skills/Experience/Training

• High school education or equivalent and less than two years of training and/or experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Intermediate mechanical or technical skills.
• Experience using various hand and power tools.
• Basic ability to read manufacturing drawings/specifications, prints or work instructions.
• Basic math and practical geometry skills.
• Basic computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and understanding of computer applications.
• Basic knowledge and use of simple industrial measuring tools.
