Job summary

Evotec in Princeton, NJ seeks a PhD-level scientist to perform and lead in vitro toxicology studies across discovery projects. You will design experiments, analyze data, and report findings to guide next steps, while mentoring junior scientists.

The role emphasizes high-content, imaging and MEA-based assays, with opportunities to develop new TOX assays and improve current workflows in a fast-paced CRO environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a scientific field with at least 3 years of relevant CRO/pharma/academic experience.
  • Experience in High Content Assay development and imaging/MEA based assays.
  • Experience in drug discovery/development and TOX knowledge.
  • Experience in cell-based or biochemical assays.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Strong time management and independent-working capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine in-vitro toxicology assays and report results for discovery and development compounds.
  • Plan, perform and report in vitro TOX studies; design next steps from data.
  • Contribute to experimental design and data interpretation; guide junior scientists.
  • Conduct high-throughput studies to completion while managing multiple projects.
  • Develop new TOX assays and improve existing ones; ensure quality system compliance.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to meet client requirements; support robotic systems.
  • Assist in data analysis, quality review of peer data, and validation criteria.

Job description

What You'll Do
  • Perform routine in-vitro toxicology assays
  • Responsible for planning, performing and reporting in vitro TOX studies for discovery and development stage compounds.
  • Actively participate in experimental design, perform experiments as well as critically analyze, interpret and report the data to design next steps.
  • Ability to perform high-impact as well as high throughput studies to completion in a fast paced environment, while managing multiple projects to meet the timelines
  • Provides scientific knowledge and responsible in establishing new TOX assays as well as contribute to the continuous improvement of the current TOX assays
  • Guide junior scientists within the department
  • Assist in data analysis and interpretation
  • Laboratory support including ordering, equipment calibration and validation Working to a high standard and adhering to our Quality System
  • Work closely with the Project Managers to ensure the requirements of our clients are met
  • Assist in running and maintaining robotic systems to support processes.
  • Perform Quality Review of peer data and assist in consolidating assay control and validation criteria
Who You Are
  • PhD in a scientific relevant field with at least 3 years of related experience in contract research organizations, pharmaceutical industries or academia.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Experienced in High Content Assay development
  • Experienced in Imaging based and MEA based assays
  • Experienced in drug discovery/development
  • Broad understanding of TOX
  • Experienced in cell based or biochemical assays.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate with peers and all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage time and works independently.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $93,500 to $115,000. This is a salaried exempt position. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, flexible work, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
