Job summary

The Associate Portfolio Manager role at Parametric, part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, focuses on managing customized equity portfolios to maximize tax efficiency while tracking client-specific benchmarks. You will leverage quantitative research, portfolio optimization, and sophisticated trading strategies to construct, monitor, and rebalance portfolios in line with client objectives.

This hybrid role combines in-office collaboration three days a week with the option to work remotely

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in investment management, portfolio management, quantitative analysis, trading, or a related financial services environment; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional certifications.
  • Significant progress toward the CFA designation, MBA, or other relevant investment management or finance credential strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Understanding of investment theory, portfolio construction, and financial markets.
  • Familiarity with equity risk models, portfolio optimization techniques, and quantitative investment strategies preferred.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and manage tax-efficient equity index portfolios for separately managed accounts.

  • Contribute to process enhancements, automation initiatives, and technology-driven solutions that improve portfolio management efficiency and scalability.

This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Associate Portfolio Manager plays a key role in managing customized equity portfolios designed to maximize tax efficiency while closely tracking client-specific benchmarks and market indexes. Acting as an investment engineer, the Associate Portfolio Manager leverages quantitative research, portfolio optimization tools, and sophisticated trading strategies to construct, monitor, and rebalance portfolios in alignment with client objectives. This role requires a strong analytical mindset and a focus on performance measurement, risk management, cost control, and continuous process improvement within a dynamic investment management environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construct and manage tax-efficient equity index portfolios for separately managed accounts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in investment management, portfolio management, quantitative analysis, trading, or a related financial services environment; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional certifications. Internal candidates with 2.5+ years of experience at the firm will also be considered.
  • Significant progress toward the CFA designation, MBA, or other relevant investment management or finance credential strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Understanding of investment theory, portfolio construction, and financial markets.
  • Familiarity with equity risk models, portfolio optimization techniques, and quantitative investment strategies preferred.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable insights.
