Job description

Company Overview:

Soltage is a leader in the development, financing, and operation of distributed utility‑scale solar, storage and solar + storage assets for commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers across the United States. Soltage has developed more than 135 solar energy projects, with more than 600 MW total distributed generating capacity in operation or under construction and invested over $1.5 Billion to date into the US clean energy sector. Soltage is headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Position Description:

We are seeking a driven Portfolio Management / Corporate Finance Associate to join a team that sits at the center of how Soltage funds and grows its business. You will own three connected mandates. On the portfolio side, you will bring newly closed solar and storage projects into Soltage's financing vehicles and run the debt and tax equity fundings that keep capital flowing to construction. On the corporate side, you will help raise capital at the platform level - corporate credit facilities, holdco debt, and equity capital - and then manage those vehicles day to day, from availability and covenant compliance through lender reporting and repayment. And across both, you will stay with the assets long after they energize - keeping each financing vehicle compliant and well-run through the full operating life of its projects and bringing a strategic lens to portfolio operations. The ideal candidate brings a background in portfolio management, corporate finance, investment banking, or project finance; is comfortable moving between a credit agreement and a capital model in the same afternoon; and thrives coordinating complex processes across deal, accounting, legal, and lender teams.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Help lead the portfolio onboarding process alongside the investments team, carrying newly closed projects, deals, and funding transactions from signature to fully integrated, fully funded assets.
  • Drive debt and tax equity fundings from draw request through close, with rigorous tracking and reporting throughout each stage.
  • Support capital formation at the corporate level: help structure, market, and close corporate credit facilities, holdco debt, and equity capital that fund Soltage's growth.
  • Support the day-to-day management of those corporate vehicles after close, owning the recurring mechanics: borrowing base and availability, covenant compliance, draws and repayments, and lender and investor deliverables.
  • Build and maintain the corporate capital model: sources and uses, liquidity forecasting, and scenario analysis that shape how and when Soltage raises its next dollar.
  • Manage communication as a trusted point of contact for Soltage's capital partners, including the development of investor and lender reporting materials.
  • Calculate and oversee debt service, distributions, and cash waterfalls; adhere to portfolio requirements and standards outlined in financing and organizational documents.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that allow a fast-growing portfolio to scale without adding friction.
  • Contribute to corporate FP&A alongside senior finance leadership: helping build the operating budget and multi-year plan, owning the monthly and quarterly variance analysis against actuals, and giving management a clear read on liquidity, cash flow, and capital needs.
  • Manage Soltage's financing vehicles through the operating life of the assets, owning the recurring compliance calendar: covenant and DSCR testing, reserve requirements, distributions, and lender and tax equity reporting obligations that continue long after a project reaches commercial operation.
  • Provide strategic and business oversight of the portfolio: track asset and fund-level performance against underwriting, surface refinancing and value-creation opportunities, and recommend where Soltage should hold, recapitalize, or recycle capital.
  • Shape corporate budgeting, liquidity monitoring, and capital planning, including how capital gets allocated across the platform.
  • Assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in finance, business, or a related field, or Juris Doctor a plus.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience across portfolio management, corporate finance, investment banking, or project finance, including hands‑on management of debt and tax equity fundings.
  • Experience onboarding deals, managing portfolio-related transactions, and working with credit agreements, LLC agreements, and other transaction documents. Paralegal experience in such a setting is a plus.
  • Exposure to capital raising at the corporate level and to the ongoing administration of those vehicles (corporate credit facilities, holdco debt, or equity financings.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including sources-and-uses, liquidity, and covenant compliance analysis.
  • FP&A experience (budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis) with the ability to turn results into recommendations management can act on.
  • Familiarity with the operating phase of infrastructure or real assets, including covenant and DSCR compliance testing, distributions, and lender reporting, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes and resources across multiple teams and third‑party providers.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in renewable energy, particularly solar and storage, is a plus.
