Job summary

Urban Planning Partners, Inc. (UPP) seeks a mid-level Associate Planner to lead small- to mid-size planning projects, grow into fuller project management, mentoring, and proposal leadership alongside our team in the Bay Area.

You will deliver high-quality CEQA analyses, housing policy updates, GIS-driven graphics, and community engagement across Northern and Central California, coordinating with clients, staff, and subconsultants in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of professional planning experience with progressive responsibility.
• Bachelor’s in planning, community development, environmental science, public administration, or related field.
• Advanced GIS and graphic design capabilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead small and medium planning/environmental projects as PM or Deputy PM.
• Draft and manage project descriptions, entitlement pathways, and CEQA topics.
• Coordinate reviews and approvals for commercial, mixed-use, and multifamily projects.
• Prepare CEQA documents from exemptions to EIRs with defensible conclusions.
• Develop graphics and maps to tell planning stories and support reports.
• Support jurisdictions with housing policy updates and design standards.
• Lead proposals and contribute to firm development and marketing.
