New Hope Church is a Southern Baptist Convention church located in Manhattan, KS. The church was originally planted in 1987. Over many years and meeting locations, the church has grown to around 150 members and 400 attendees on a Sunday morning. We are in the process of renovating our permanent church home of 72,000+ square feet at 1213 Bakers Way in Manhattan. The church is multi-generational with a high number of both college students and military families stationed at nearby Ft. Riley. New Hope Church exists to help people walk with God for life. We do this by being a church centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of God who seeks to value discipleship, relational culture, and equipping the next generation. The church currently has one full-time staff member (Lead Pastor) and five part-time staff members (KidsLIFE director, worship director, Fusion youth ministry director, WomensLIFE director, and office associate).
The associate pastor is a biblically qualified man who meets the qualifications of an elder from 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Ideally, he will have seminary training, preferably at the Masters level, as well as prior pastoral experience. The associate pastor will function as a permanent member of the elder team of New Hope Church in line with the New Testament’s understanding of pastors and elders as the same office. The role intentionally avoids specialization and will instead function as a general pastor-elder with some specifically designated roles. He will joyfully champion the theology and values of New Hope Church in line with the BF&M 2000 and the historic creeds of the church. He will embody the staff values of New Hope Church. He will be a committed member who grows in love for the people of New Hope Church (Philippians 1:7–8).
