Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Protection & Control to design substation drawing packages including one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

The role involves fault analysis, coordination studies, SCADA settings, and developing relay settings, with opportunities to manage small projects and collaborate across engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • P.E. license or track preferred.
  • Minimum one year of Transmission and Distribution Protection and Control related experience.
  • Knowledge of protection and control devices and communications.
  • Experience with schematics, wiring diagrams, and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer specifications and provide a design meeting all requirements.
  • Understand electrical circuit theories and fundamentals.
  • Check protection/wiring diagrams against schematics.
  • Create control panel and field equipment wiring diagrams from schematics.
  • Develop project-specific protection and control schematics from standard drawings.
  • Lead small projects and perform project management activities.

Job Overview

Asa member of our Protection & Control Engineering Services Team, you willbe responsible for creating substationdrawing packages including one-line drawings, three-line drawings, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, component layouts, electrical plans, and detailed assembly drawingsthat will be draftedusing AutoCAD and MicroStation. Our P&C EngineeringServicesteams also perform fault analysis and coordination studies,SCADA settings, along with developing settings for most station relays.

A Day In The Life

Interpret customer specifications and provide a design which meets all requirements

Understand the theories and fundamentals of electrical circuits and related components

Check/yellow line protection and control wiring diagrams to schematic diagrams

Create control panel and field equipment wiring diagrams from schematic diagrams

Create project specific protection and control schematic diagrams from standard customer schematics

Create protection and control schematic diagrams from a 1-Line diagram

Collaborate with designers and engineers on technical issues.

Perform all Project Management activities and lead small projects without supervision.

What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; P.E. license or P.E. track preferred
  • Minimum one year of Transmission and Distribution Protection and Control related experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the specifications, structure,programmingand configuration of the following control devices is also beneficial:
  • Microprocessor Based Protection and Control Relays,RS-232/RS485/Fiber optic/Ethernet Communication, RTU Equipment, HMI, SCADA Systems, Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of transmission and distribution protection and control schematic and wiring diagrams
