Role Description

The Associate Optometrist PT Target Optical role is a part-time/as needed, on-site position based in Bluffton, SC within the Target Optical retail environment. The optometrist provides comprehensive eye examinations, evaluates visual and ocular health, and develops accurate prescriptions for patients. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing and managing common ocular conditions, educating patients on lens and eyewear options, and collaborating with store associates to ensure a seamless eye care and retail experience. The role involves maintaining accurate clinical records, adhering to all professional, regulatory, and company standards, and supporting a patient-centered environment focused on quality care and accessibility. The optometrist also participates in practice growth activities, such as patient retention initiatives and community outreach aligned with EssilorLuxottica’s mission.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and active optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of South Carolina.
• Demonstrated clinical proficiency in comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions.
• Strong patient communication and education skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings and treatment options in clear, accessible language.
• Comfort working in a retail-based eye care setting, collaborating with optical staff to deliver coordinated care and product recommendations.
• Commitment to ethical practice, regulatory compliance, and accurate clinical documentation using modern exam tools and systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends, depending on patient and store needs.
• Interest in staying current with advances in lenses, frames, diagnostic technology, and best practices in optometry.
• Previous experience in a commercial or group practice environment is beneficial but not required.
