They will support project teams with a variety of engineering tasks from design and development to assembly, maintenance, and testing of complex maritime systems. Ideal candidates thrive in small, fast‑paced R&D environments, as part of larger teams or as individual contributors under the guidance of more experienced engineers.

Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Support the full marine system development cycle, from conceptualization and design to production planning, procurement, fabrication, component‑level testing, system integration, system testing, and sustainment.
  • Travel for testing (approximately 5–15% of the year).
  • Design and fabricate oceanographic moorings.
  • Design, fabricate, and test subsea wet cables.
  • Maintain and operate oceanographic instrumentation and unmanned platforms.
  • Write procedures for fabrication and testing.
  • Implement lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Integrate and optimize test gear and assets for sea deployment.
  • Prepare for and execute pier‑side and at‑sea testing.
Required Skills and Attributes
  • B.S. degree in Ocean Engineering or related domain.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude; ability to independently solve moderately complex problems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Use basic hand tools and electrical test/measurement equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for documenting and reporting findings.
  • Write procedures for integration, production, and testing.
  • Experience with basic data plotting and analysis in Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented.
  • Understand and communicate fundamental electrical and mechanical concepts; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Experience with SolidWorks, CAD, or other solid modeling tools.
  • Basic proficiency interfacing with Linux‑based systems.
  • Familiarity with subsea wet cable design and construction.
  • Experience at sea and familiarity with offshore rigging.
  • Experience in mechanical production and sustainment of maritime systems.
  • Familiarity with localization methods, including beamforming.
  • Experience with acoustic propagation models and tools.
  • Experience or familiarity with electronics assembly, wiring, crimping, and soldering.
  • Proficiency with electronic laboratory test equipment (digital multimeter, oscilloscope, function generator, voltage/current measurement probes).
  • Experience working in an R&D environment and in small multidisciplinary teams.
