Job summary

Bosch Motorsport North America in Michigan is seeking an Associate Motorsport Software Engineer to join a growing team focused on connectivity, telemetry, and data services for professional motorsport. You will support application and development engineers on projects across North America and worldwide, driving performance and reliability.

This role requires collaboration with customers, trackside deployment, and participation in test and validation activities, including HIL and cloud testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 1+ years in industry engineering.
• 1+ years with data acquisition/analysis software.
• Motorsport or high-performance environments experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop connectivity and telemetry products for motorsport.

What You Will Do

The Associate Motorsport Software Engineer supports the worldwide development and application of connectivity products and services for motorsport applications. This position requires the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments and involves frequent domestic and international travel (approximately 40–60 days per year).

• Connectivity and Telemetry Development Participate in development of advanced connectivity and telemetry products and services at global development sites, customer locations, and race tracks.
• Trackside Diagnostics and System Configuration Deploy trackside to set up and maintain trackside telemetry servers, manage wireless radio connections, and develop standardized data analysis dashboards for performance evaluation. Identify and resolve complex software, connectivity, and system-level issues under high-pressure conditions. Willingness to participate in an on call rotation to support race events.
• Customer Application Engineering Collect customer requirements, manage project timelines, and deliver technical application support for motorsport products and services focusing on telemetry gateway units and Cloud services for data collection, analysis, and distribution.
• Requirements Management Interface directly with customers to collect and clarify technical requirements to help manage project timelines, and ensure on-time delivery to meet project and customer milestones.
• HIL and Cloud System Testing Validate customer-level, component-level, and system-level requirements through Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) bench tests and Cloud system tests. Interface directly with internal development teams to align feedback for development improvements.
• Workflow Optimization Support the development and optimization of internal software tools and workflow scripts using MATLAB, Python, C#, or similar languages to improve application processes and team efficiency.
• Domestic and International Travel Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 40–60 days per year) to provide elite technical support directly on-site at customer, track, and other development sites.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 1+ years of experience in industry-relevant application engineering (academic or industry experience).
• 1+ years of experience working with industry-standard data acquisition and data analysis software.
• Experience in professional motorsport, significant collegiate racing (e.g., Formula SAE, EcoCAR), or equivalent high-performance environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Automotive Communications and Networking Knowledge of network communication frameworks, including the OSI and TCP/IP models. Experience with wired and wireless networking technologies and protocols, such as TCP, UDP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and cellular communications. Familiarity with hardware configuration, communication software, embedded systems, Linux or Windows command-line environments, and automotive communication protocols such as CAN and Ethernet.
• Cloud Technologies and Data Streaming Experience with Cloud-based services, containerized applications, and data-stream processing technologies, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, MQTT, and Grafana.
• Database Management and Querying Experience writing queries using SQL or similar database query languages. Experience with relational and non-relational database technologies used to manage engineering, testing, or simulation data, such as SQL Server, MongoDB, or InfluxDB.
• Programming and Scripting Experience using programming or scripting languages, such as Python, MATLAB, or C#, for data analysis, automation, testing, or software development activities.
• Diagnostic and Engineering Tools Experience using engineering, diagnostic, or test tools such as Wireshark, CANalyzer, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, or similar technologies.
• Electrical and System Analysis Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Experience with system troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, software debugging, and vehicle-level diagnostics.
• Powertrain and Control Systems Knowledge of or experience with internal combustion, hybrid, and/or battery-electric vehicle systems, including powertrain, chassis, or controls development.
