Job summary

ORBIS Corporation in Pewaukee, WI, is seeking a motivated lab technician to perform material testing and data analysis to support material solutions for customers and suppliers. You will work under senior staff, using FTIR, DSC, TGA, Instron, and molding equipment, and contribute to method development.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s Degree or higher in science/engineering with 1–2 years in a lab or plastics setting, plus strong Excel and SAP skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform material testing protocols and data collection as directed by senior personnel
  • Test materials using FTIR, DSC, TGA, Instron, injection molding equipment
  • Analyze data and write accurate lab reports with charts and photos
  • Develop and implement new test methods for material characterization
  • Serve as liaison between ORBIS cross-functional teams and suppliers

About The Opportunity

Responsible for the testing and evaluation of materials to provide material solutions and meaningful information to the organization. Support customers and suppliers as needed to deliver on the ORBIS Value Proposition.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform material testing protocols and data collection, as directed by senior lab personnel.
  • Perform testing on various instrumentation including FTIR, DSC, TGA, Instron, injection molding, etc.
  • Analyze and write accurate lab reports based on gathered data, including charts and pictures.
  • Development and implementation of new test methods for material characterization.
  • Serve as technical liaison between ORBIS cross-functional teams and suppliers for joint development opportunities related to materials.
  • Plan and carry out project responsibilities with limited direction.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering, manufacturing, and other internal/external customers, as needed.
  • Engage employees in continuous quality process improvement activities.
  • Maintain organized sample storage areas.
  • Guide and support other lab personnel in lab, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
