Job summary

GKN Aerospace in Cromwell, CT is seeking an Associate level Manufacturing Engineer to support the Resin Transfer Molding and Composite Fabric Layup processes. You will perform planning, design and modification of tooling and processes, and resolve production problems as you update standard work instructions for assigned parts.

The role emphasizes safety, Lean initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration to drive process improvements in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields.
  • 0-3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplifying a safety first mindset and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Deliver technical support of manufacturing processes.
  • Employ Zero Defect Manufacturing tools to eliminate non-conformances and reworks.
  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean Initiatives.
  • Support/lead root cause and corrective action investigations.
  • Develop and continuously improve manufacturing process solutions to complex problems.
  • Self-starter and pro-active problem solver.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with other departments.
  • Ability to explain concepts to a variety of audiences effectively.

Job Summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking an Associate level Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing process (Resin Transfer Molding, Composite Fabric Layup) with technical responsibility for part fabrication in a fast moving environment. Performs a variety of engineering tasks in daily manufacturing support through planning, designing, and modifying tooling and processes. Resolves production problems and completes required updates to standard work instructions on assigned part(s).

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelors in engineering or related fields (i.e. Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Aerospace, etc.)
  • Strong Communication skills
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • 0-3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D CAD software. Preferably NX or CATIA
  • Experience in creating working instructions
  • Physical
  • Must be able to work in a production environment and travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30lbs, using proper lifting techniques.
