Job summary

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc (ESAero) in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, improve product quality, and support new product introductions.

You will analyze workflows, translate designs to manufacturable assemblies, and provide guidance to production teams while participating in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related role.

  • Ability to evaluate production issues and propose engineering solutions.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve assembly and production processes to meet targets.
  • Analyze workflows and identify opportunities for efficiency, standardization, and error reduction.
  • Translate designs into manufacturable assemblies using materials, tooling, and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance to production and assembly teams on tools and methods.
  • Participate in design reviews, assessing manufacturability, cost, and feasibility.
  • Apply engineering principles to resolve production issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation such as work instructions and routings.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, procurement, and operations on continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate equipment, tools, and fixtures to optimize production processes.
  • Support new product introductions by analyzing production requirements.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, process optimization, or ERP/MRP systems.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical manufacturing, sheet metal, plastics, or PCB assembly; travel to Santa Maria facility as needed.

Associate Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer applies engineering principles tooptimizeproduction processes, improve product quality, and support new product introductions. This role uses independent judgment and problem-solving skills to design efficient manufacturing processes, ensure compliance with engineering standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The position requires intellectual, professional work that contributes to engineering solutions and process improvements.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop,maintain, and improve assembly and production processes to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.

  • Analyze manufacturing workflows andidentifyopportunities for efficiency improvements, process standardization, and error reduction.

  • Translate engineered designs into manufacturable assemblies using engineering principles and advanced knowledge of materials, tooling, and equipment.

  • Providetechnical guidance to production and assembly personnel regarding proper use of tools, equipment, and methods.

  • Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on manufacturability, cost, and process feasibility.

  • Apply engineering principles to resolve production issues,determineroot causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop andmaintainprocess documentation, including work instructions, routings, and standard operating procedures.

  • Collaborate with design, quality, procurement, and operations teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Evaluate and recommend equipment, tools, and fixtures tooptimizeproduction processes.

  • Support new product introductions by analyzing production requirements and contributing engineering solutions to achieve efficient scale-up.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, process optimization, or ERP/MRP systems.

  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical manufacturing, sheet metal, plastics, or PCB assembly.
    *Travel to Santa Maria CA facility, as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
