Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer in Anasco, Puerto Rico. The role coordinates Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering to ensure projects are reviewed, implemented, and completed on schedule and within budget, translating manufacturing data for leadership and applying standard project management tools.

You will analyze problems from basic to advanced levels, interface with Quality and R&D, support production, and drive process improvements while adhering to Credo

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• 0-2 years of engineering experience preferred.
• Experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
• Fluent in English and Spanish is required.
• Basic knowledge on statistics preferred.
• Computer literate is required.
• Regulatory compliance knowledge with FDA, ISO, OSHA preferred.
• Lean & Six Sigma knowledge/certification preferred.

• Analyzes and solves problems from basic to advanced engineering concepts.
• Interfaces with business policies and customer needs to foresee market trends.

• Monitors equipment and process performance to correct nonconformities and optimize yield.
• Drives process optimization, budget management, and capital investments.

Purpose: Coordinates Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering by ensuring that project plans are comprehensively reviewed, implemented, and completed on schedule and within budget. Assists in the development and execution of detailed engineering project plans that will lead to improved performance and efficiencies by capitalizing on standard project management tools. Arranges the translation of relevant manufacturing data into broadly understandable terms to communicate project progress with leadership. Conducts effective and efficient use of project engineering tools and techniques to solve opportunities. Arranges status reports on assigned projects in various formats to various organizational levels. Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.

You will be responsible for:

• Initiates and completes technical activities to new or improved products or processes, for current programs, next generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company.
• Analyzes and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches or a major breakthrough in technology.
• Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion. Understands the business needs of the company and has knowledge of the customer needs of our business. Understands the business cycle and foresight of emerging technologies trends.
• Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks. Serves as a resource in the training of new engineers and employees.
• Interacts cross functionally and with internal and external customers. Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters. Acts as spokesperson to customers on business unit current and future capabilities.
• Interfaces with Quality and Research and Development organizations to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area.
• Monitors performance of equipment, machines, and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce nonconforming products, low yields or product quality issues.
• Drives the optimization of process output and throughput, equipment utilization, equipment downtime, waste reduction/yield improvements, budget management, standard cost, and capital investment management in a creative manner.
• Provides technical support to peers and production areas in evaluating process deficiencies, process changes, modifications, and equipment failure. Defines, analyzes, reviews, and evaluates problems for prompt solutions.
• Supports manufacturing in the day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment’s to ensure increase production outputs and increase operation team capabilities.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• 0-2 years of experience in Engineering is preferred.
• Experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
• Knowledge on statistics is preferred.
• Computer literate is required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish is required.
• Experience or knowledge on problem solving/root cause analysis is preferred.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance with all local and federal agencies i.e., FDA, ISO, OSHA, etc. is preferred.
• Basic knowledge on Lean & Sig Sigma methodologies and certification is preferred.
• Availability to work overtime, various work schedules, which include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including weekends and holidays is required.
