Job summary

IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, and Health & Biosciences. This role focuses on North American regulatory affairs for Food Biosciences products, including GRAS and Health Canada filings, with collaboration across R&D, Quality, and Commercial teams.

You will develop regulatory strategies to support US/Canada commercialization and monitor ongoing compliance in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
  • Significant regulatory affairs experience in food ingredients, biotechnology, dairy, enzymes, cultures, or regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of US/Canada regulatory frameworks for food ingredients and Food Biosciences products.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and managing regulatory submissions, notifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to business and product-specific situations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as North American regulatory SME for Food Biosciences products and assess regulatory developments and business impact.
  • Develop and execute regulatory strategies that support commercialization, innovation, and growth in the US/CA.
  • Lead, prepare, and support regulatory submissions and notifications, including GRAS submissions and Health Canada filings.
  • Partner with R&D, Applications, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into product development and launch activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders and external customers regarding product compliance and market requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain ongoing compliance of marketed products within NA regulatory frameworks and standards.
  • Evaluate regulatory risks and propose practical, business-focused solutions that balance compliance and innovation.
  • Build relationships with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and external stakeholders to support advocacy and intelligence.
  • Contribute to regulatory process improvements and knowledge-sharing across the organization.

Where You'll Make a Difference
  • Serve as the North American regulatory subject matter expert for Food Biosciences products, including food enzymes and cultures, and proactively assess regulatory developments and business impact.
  • Develop and execute regulatory strategies that support commercialization, innovation, and business growth across the United States and Canada.
  • Lead, prepare, and support regulatory submissions and notifications, including Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) submissions and Health Canada filings.
  • Partner closely with Research & Development (R&D), Applications, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into product development and launch activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders and external customers regarding product compliance, regulatory status, and market requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain ongoing compliance of marketed products within North American regulatory frameworks and applicable industry standards.
  • Evaluate regulatory risks and recommend practical, business-focused solutions that support both compliance and innovation.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and external stakeholders to support advocacy and regulatory intelligence.
  • Contribute to regulatory process improvements, documentation practices, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the broader regulatory organization.\
What Makes You the Right Fit
  • Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Regulatory Affairs, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Significant regulatory affairs experience within food ingredients, biotechnology, dairy, enzymes, cultures, or another regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of United States and/or Canadian regulatory frameworks applicable to food ingredients and Food Biosciences products.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and managing regulatory submissions, notifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to business and product-specific situations.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation practices, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
  • Experience working successfully within a global, matrixed organization and collaborating across cultures and regions.
