Baker Tilly is seeking a candidate to support our Mergers & Acquisitions practice within tax due diligence and advisory services in Santa Monica. You will assist project managers, clients, and peers on diverse engagements, gaining exposure to tax structuring and transactional analysis.

The role emphasizes critical thinking, analytical rigor, and collaboration across teams while supporting cross-functional teams on middle-market deals. A CPA is preferred and US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • CPA preferred; if not, must meet educational requirements to obtain CPA license upon hire in state of employment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire; visa sponsorship not offered now or in future.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience; public accounting or law firm experience preferred; tax due diligence and M&A tax consulting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint) and ability to travel ~15%.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Seniors, Managers and Partners in conducting financial due diligence on middle-market companies in a variety of industries.
  • Conduct analytical reviews of data and prepare findings.
  • Create draft reports for management review.
  • Research issues that arose during the course of engagement.

Job Description:

Introduction to the team
Our Mergers and Acquisitions practice works with owners and investors to help them ease their tax burden and quantify tax exposures in a wide range of transactions, including buy-side and sell-side, restructuring, taxable and tax-free transactions. We provide our clients with tax due diligence, tax structuring, quantitative tax modeling services, transaction agreementreview and consultationand tax technical support. You will gain knowledge of the firm's Merger & Acquisition services as well as assist project managers, clients, and peers on various consulting engagements.

  • CPA preferred. If not a CPA, must meet educational requirements to obtain CPA license upon hire in state ofemployment

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Previous experience in a public accounting firm or law firmpreferred
  • Previous experience in tax due diligence and merger and acquisitions tax consultingpreferred
  • Able to understand problems, think critically, research and identify creativesolutions
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions/departments/teams while building trusted relationships and positively influencingothers
  • Self directedprofessional and takes initiative for professional growth anddevelopment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint)
  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately 15%
The pay rate range for this job position is $83,000 – $105,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees/certifications, work arrangements and geographic location.
