Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Associate Load Tap Changer (LTC) Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair LTCs and transformer equipment across the power grid. You will gain hands-on exposure to LTC maintenance, transformer service, electrical testing, controls, and oil processing while building skills and safe work practices.

You will assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, inspections, and field service activities, documenting field activities and equipment

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Technical/Trade school or related coursework is preferred.
  • Candidates must have work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical work on Load Tap Changers (LTCs) and transformer equipment under the direction of experienced technicians.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, upgrades, and field service activities.
  • Support electrical testing and diagnostic activities to identify equipment issues and improve reliability.
  • Assist with operation of oil processing and oil handling equipment.
  • Read and interpret procedures, drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Complete daily activity reports, service documentation, and customer reports accurately and on time.
  • Utilize digital tools and software to document field activities and equipment condition.
  • Collaborate with field crews, management, engineering teams, and customers to execute projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Technical school, trade school, military training, or coursework in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or related fields preferred.

  • Previous experience in construction, maintenance, manufacturing, utilities, or field service is beneficial but not required.

  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company software systems.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.
