Job summary

Arthrex, a global medical device company, is seeking an Associate Litigation and Risk Management Counsel in Naples, FL. The role protects the organization’s legal interests and oversees litigation, regulatory matters, and internal investigations within the Legal department.

You will advise senior management, supervise staff as needed, and collaborate with outside counsel; travel up to 10% may be required to support case work and investigations.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited law school.
• 5 years’ experience required as an attorney in litigation within a law firm and/or in house setting.
• Must be admitted into and in good standing of a state bar.
• Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports litigation and claims management for the department.
• Assists with defense of litigation, product liability issues, insurance matters, regulatory matters, and internal investigations.
• Reviews documents, e‑discovery and case management as needed.
• Provides timely advice and counsel to senior management on laws, regulations and company policies.
• Advises on claim status, legal risks, and liabilities in medical device manufacturing and distribution.
• Represents department with outside counsel for depositions, mediations and interviews.
• Reviews marketing and advertising materials for legal/regulatory compliance.
• Drafts memoranda on various legal topics including medical device law.

The Legal department is based in Naples, Florida and includes a team of varied legal professionals. Arthrex is actively searching for an Associate Litigation and Risk Management Counsel to join the Legal team.

Main Objective

Responsible for protecting the organization's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides support for all litigation and claims management needs of the department.
• Assists with the defense of litigation, product liability issues, insurance correspondence, regulatory matters, and internal investigations.
• Assists with document review, e‑discovery and case management, as needed.
• Responsible for presenting clear recommendations back to the business and assuring legal compliance.
• Advise on claim status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with medical device manufacturing and distribution.
• Represent the department as required in liaison with outside counsel for depositions, witness preparation, mediations, and interviews.
• Review marketing and advertising materials to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Drafts simple and complex memorandum on various legal topics including but not limited to those related to medical device manufacturers.
• Provides timely advice and counsel to senior management by advising the business on laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
• May supervise legal support staff.
• Up to 10% travel may be required.

Education And Experience

• Must be a graduate of an accredited law school.
