Job summary
Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin is seeking a laboratory technician to perform CLIA regulated and clinical contract research testing under supervision. You will interact with customers to resolve sample acceptability and results while supporting reagent preparation and routine maintenance of equipment.
This is a temporary, full-time role (40 hours/week) on the 1st shift (Mon-Fri) for one year, with salary and benefits discussed during screening.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required in biology/chemistry/related field.
- Associate's Degree in lab science required.
- Able to read SOPs and safety rules; detail oriented.
Responsibilities
- Understand and perform regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Perform testing as scheduled.
- Support sample evaluation and processing as needed.
- Occasionally work on-call, weekends, and holidays.
- Conduct reagent preparation and routine equipment maintenance.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate equipment.
- Support inquiries via phone, email, LIS, and documentation.
- Maintain inventory and sample integrity.
- May participate in validations and trainings.
- Maintain departmental records and assist visitors.

Under direct supervision by department leadership, performs CLIA regulated and clinical contract research testing. Interacts at a basic level with customers, providing a high level of customer service to resolve customer concerns about sample acceptability and results. Supports preparation of laboratory reagents and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
The target salary is based on internal averages. Versiti sets salary ranges aligned to local markets in which the job is performed. Compensation decisions take into account internal salary averages and differentiation based on education, experience, skills, and performance. - Support customer inquiries via phone, email, and lab information system (LIS).
- Support the maintenance of reagent and supply inventory.
- Maintain sample integrity and ensure proper identification of all specimens.
- May participate in validations.
- May support training, as assigned.
- Maintain organization of departmental records, as needed.
- May assist in educating fellows, residents, students, and visitors to the laboratory.
- May support preparation or management of proficiency samples in the laboratory.
- May release results in accordance to training and compliance requirements.
- Review daily work for accuracy and escalation as appropriate.
- May provide support for transfusion product selection, as applicable.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
- Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, immunology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or related field. required
- Associate's Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals.
- Must have basic mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to apply judgment to detailed and structured written or oral instructions.
- Ability to organize work to provide efficient and productive workflow.
- Flexibility to work independently and with a team.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
