Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Associate Information Data Architect to join our team. The role focuses on delivering trusted analytics, data products, and insights within a modern Azure-based data ecosystem.

Responsibilities span data modeling, governance, and cross-functional collaboration to translate requirements into scalable analytical solutions. Candidates should have experience with SQL, Python, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS, Azure SQL, Informatica, and BI tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
• 2+ years in data engineering, ETL, data modeling, analysis, validation, reporting, or analytical solution delivery
• Strong proficiency with SQL for data analysis and data profiling
• P&C insurance experience preferred
• Advanced Excel and Power BI and other visualization tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of database schema, XML schema, and JSON schema
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS, Azure SQL, and Azure DevOps
• Python for data wrangling, XML/JSON parsing, XPath, automation
• Experience creating semantic models and analytical datasets for BI platforms
• Understanding of KPI design, data governance, lineage, and business glossary concepts
• Ability to work across Informatica and cloud platforms during migrations
• Ability to plan for future capability needs and continuous improvements

Responsibilities

• Translate reporting and analytical requirements into datasets and metrics
• Design source-to-target mappings, data lineage and transformation logic
• Validate data quality through deep-dive analysis and reconciliation
• Respond to ad hoc requests with timely, accurate information
• Communicate complex data concepts clearly to technical and business audiences
• Collaborate with product owners to define KPIs, rules, and metric logic
• Create and maintain curated analytics datasets for dashboards and self-service analytics
• Improve analytics performance via query optimization and semantic modeling
• Support data governance through documentation and lineage tracking
• Align datasets with enterprise data models and Azure standards
• Monitor Azure Data Factory/Synapse pipelines and data freshness
