Job summary

Pennoni is seeking an Associate Highway Engineer for the Transportation Division at our Lehigh Valley, PA office. The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation engineering, PennDOT permit work, roadway design, drainage design, ADA ramp design, and related traffic plans.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 2–5 years of experience; a PA PE license is preferred. Proficiency with PennDOT EPS and current design standards (PennDOT, AASHTO) is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in PA preferred.
• Experience with PennDOT permitting and design standards.
• Familiarity with PennDOT publications and design standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in transportation engineering projects including PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permits.
• Contribute to roadway, drainage, and ADA ramp design.
• Develop maintenance and protection of traffic plans.
• Prepare pavement marking and signing layouts and pavement section reviews.

• Transportation engineering including PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit preparation and review, roadway design, drainage design, ADA ramp design, maintenance and protection of traffic plans, pavement marking and signing layouts, and pavement section design and review.

Required Attributes

• Experience/knowledge of PennDOT publications and design standards.
• Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum years of work experience: 2-5
• Licenses Required: Professional Engineer in PA preferred.
• Computer skills required: Basic knowledge of PennDOT’s electronic permitting system (EPS).
• Familiarity with current design standards (PennDOT, AASHTO)
• Efficient use of other applicable engineering software (StormCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs; Hydraflow Storm Sewers; VTPSUHM, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Looks for and seizes opportunities to improve work products.
