Your Mission

The Associate Ground & Flight Test Engineer, Integration & Safety supports the planning, coordination, and execution of ground and flight test campaigns in support of the Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program. Working under the direction of the senior Ground & Flight Test Engineer, this role contributes across the full test lifecycle — from requirements development and procedure writing through test execution, data collection, and post-test reporting.

This position assists in the development and maintenance of test plans, test procedures, and test schedules, ensuring documentation is current, traceable to requirements, and aligned with program objectives. The engineer will support integration activities across hardware, software, and ground support equipment (GSE), helping to verify interface definitions and track readiness status leading up to test events.

This role supports safety coordination efforts by contributing to hazard analyses, System Safety Plans, and Range Safety documentation under the guidance of the senior engineer and safety leads. The engineer will participate in test readiness reviews (TRRs), safety reviews, and anomaly investigations, developing familiarity with the processes and standards that govern safe and effective test execution.

This position provides an opportunity to grow rapidly within a high-consequence, fast-paced development program of highest national priority, gaining hands‑on experience across ground test, flight test, integration, and safety disciplines simultaneously.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience or coursework in one or more of the following:
    • Test planning, procedure development, or test execution support
    • Hardware/software integration or interface verification
    • System safety, hazard analysis, or safety documentation
    • Requirements development and traceability
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Exposure to missile defense, interceptor, space, or highly integrated aerospace flight programs.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-882 (System Safety), MIL-STD-1540, Range Commanders Council (RCC) safety standards, or equivalent safety and test standards.
  • Experience supporting test readiness reviews, safety review boards, or anomaly investigations.
  • Familiarity with verification and validation (V&V) methodologies and requirements management tools.
  • Experience interfacing with U.S. Government customers or range safety organizations.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $80,000‑$160,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge and skills, education and experience.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Work Location: This role will be required to support efforts across our operating locations, which will require potentially significant and extended travel at times. Primary locations for much of the work will be at our GravityWorks factories in Centennial, CO and Long Beach, CA. Additional significant efforts will be required at USSF and MDA facilities in Huntsville, AL, and at supplier and test range locations.
  • Work environment is in a standard office, working at a desk or in a production factory, test facility, or at operational test range locations.
  • Physical demands may include frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying items up to 20lbs. This position will also require significant travel.
