Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. seeks an Associate Geologist to join its Technical Transaction Team in Houston, TX. The role spans geology and geophysics to evaluate oil and gas assets across Upstream, Midstream and Downstream sectors.

You will work with engineers and finance partners on technical evaluations, interpretation, and mapping, contributing to pitch materials and data rooms for clients and deals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geology.
• Minimum 3 years in industry at an operator or A&D banking.
• SIE, Series 79 and Series 63 licenses to be obtained if not licensed shortly after onboarding.
• Experience with industry software (Petra, ArcGIS, Geo Graphix, Microsoft Office, Landmark).
• Highly proficient in key subjects of geophysical mapping, database creation and characterization of domestic and global conventional and unconventional plays.

Responsibilities

• Quantify the potential for future drilling locations for oil and gas assets across domestic and international reservoirs.
• Develop deep technical understanding and collaborate closely with engineers.
• Identify and determine trends, risks associated with oil and gas development across domestic and international areas.
• Identify sub-surface complexities and uncertainties that impact operational results and well productivity.
• Characterize geologic concepts including regional, basin wide mapping, log and core analysis.
• Play a lead role in data room, marketing and pitch efforts alongside senior bankers.
