Splitero seeks an Associate General Counsel to own the end-to-end home equity origination process, partnering with origination, marketing, product, and operations to keep a fast-growing consumer finance business compliant and agile.
The role requires 7+ years of legal experience, a JD with US bar admission, and strong expertise in consumer finance regulation, privacy, and contract negotiations, with a capacity to deliver clear guidance under pressure.
As Splitero's Associate General Counsel, you will be the primary legal owner of our home equity investment origination process, supporting marketing and application through closing, document recording, and servicing. You will report to the General Counsel and partner closely with our origination, marketing, product, and operations teams to keep a fast-growing consumer finance business moving while staying on the right side of an evolving, complex state and federal regulatory landscape. You are a pragmatic, business-minded attorney who can spot the issues that matter, give clear answers quickly, and build the legal infrastructure for a scaling originator. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who wants to help homeowners access their equity and shape how Splitero does it. There are no direct reports today, though the role may grow a team over time.
The on-target earnings for this position are $240,000 to $300,000, inclusive of a base salary and a biannual bonus based on company, team, and individual success. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Millions of homeowners in today’s economy are sitting on substantial home equity they are unable to access due to rising interest rates and strict qualification requirements of traditional lenders. That means millions of homeowners can’t convert their hard-earned equity into cash to pay off debt, start a home renovation, or pad their retirement to better their lives.
Splitero co‑founders Michael Gifford and David Zvaifler witnessed the problem firsthand throughout their real estate careers. They set out to create a win‑win product that could help those homeowners access their home equity but not make monthly payments like traditional financing options. And thus, Splitero was born.
As part of our team, you will join our quest to revolutionize the real estate industry while helping families in need. We offer a suite of benefits designed to help you thrive in all areas of life.
We are a workforce composed of individuals with diverse backgrounds, abilities, minds, and identities. In keeping with our commitment to inclusion, we will ensure that people with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are required when applying, interviewing, or performing the essential functions of this position, please contact People Operations, at peopleops@splitero.com.
