Orion180 seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel to lead regulatory and compliance counsel efforts across insurance regulation and securities law. You will partner with senior leadership and the Board to shape regulatory strategy and scale the legal function for growth.

The role blends insurance regulatory expertise with corporate governance and aim to deliver practical, risk-adjusted solutions in a fast-paced, on-site environment across our Florida HQ in Melbourne and other offices.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 15-20 years of legal experience, ideally with top-tier firm training and in-house experience at a public company or regulated industry.
• Deep experience in insurance regulation (admitted and non-admitted markets preferred) and/or federal securities law.
• Preferred background includes public company advisory and regulated industries with interest in privacy/cybersecurity and AI regulation.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance on state admitted and non-admitted insurance carrier matters, licensing, market conduct, rate and form filings, and multistate issues.
• Advise on compliance with federal securities laws including public company reporting and SEC requirements.
• Help develop regulatory outreach strategies and publish thought leadership to engage regulators and industry.

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Associate General Counsel to join our growing legal team. This is a high-impact role for a lawyer who thrives at the intersection of insurance regulation, securities law, and corporate governance. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and the Board, shape our regulatory strategy, and help build a legal function that scales with the business. The ideal candidate combines deep subject-matter expertise with sound business judgment - someone who doesn't just flag risk, but delivers practical, risk-adjusted solutions.

What You'll Do

Regulatory & Compliance Counsel

• Provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance on state admitted and non-admitted insurance carrier matters, including licensing, market conduct, rate and form filings, and multistate regulatory issues
• Advise on compliance with federal securities laws, including public company reporting obligations, disclosure matters, and related SEC requirements
• Help develop and execute regulatory outreach strategies and author thought leadership pieces that position the company as a credible voice with regulators and in the industry

Corporate Governance

• Support the Corporate Secretary on all matters related to Board and Board Committee operations, including meeting materials, governance policies, and corporate records

Leadership & Operational Excellence

• Identify, design, and implement department-wide process improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, and organizational effectiveness
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth

What We're Looking For

Professional Qualifications
