Job Summary

About the Position

In addition to sharing liturgical and sacramental responsibilities of the whole parish, this position has primary areas of focus in:

  • Oversight of our Spanish-Speaking congregation.
  • Includes liturgical planning and execution, heritage celebrations (Hispanic Heritage Month, Posadas, Virgin of Guadalupe, etc), pastoral care, evangelism events, and diocesan connections.
  • Also includes volunteer coordination, formation development, and vocal advocacy in this time of uncertainty for many people of Hispanic origin.
  • Spanish fluency is required.
  • Social Justice Work.
  • Our recent creation of The RE-Humanization Project in which we ‘seek to build unity and promote dignity in a world that dehumanizes and divides’ asks for continuous leadership. In partnership with the Dean, lay leaders, and local organizations, this position will help move us toward the goal of becoming a prominent voice in Phoenix for respecting the dignity of every human being.
  • Development of programming, worship, and advocacy opportunities will be central to this work, as will be the creation of opportunities for our parishioners to serve the world in Christ’s name.
  • The Associate Priest will partner with the Dean and other leaders to assure that a variety of other standard areas of ministry are offered and well-managed…
  • share pastoral care responsibilities with clergy and lay leaders,
  • share baptismal preparation for families,
  • share leadership of quarterly Children, Youth, and Family events,
  • assist in newcomer welcome and incorporation,
  • help develop the culture that has been discerned by the Dean & Chapter.
