Job summary

Roto in Dublin, OH is seeking an entry-level Associate Exhibit Builder to learn fabrication, assembly, and finish carpentry for exhibits and displays under supervision. This hands-on role develops basic skills toward a future Exhibit Builder position within a dynamic shop environment.

Qualifications

  • No prior professional experience required. 0–2 years of related experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Genuine interest in learning cabinet making, fine carpentry, and exhibit fabrication.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand tools; power tools not required.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fabrication, assembly and finish carpentry support for exhibits, displays, scenic facades and graphic signs using various materials as required to satisfy project demands.
  • Operate standard shop tools and hand power tools used in fabrication and assembly of final products.
  • Prep and finish structures and components with various materials and techniques.
  • Assist installation of exhibit structures and devices in shops and client locations as required.
  • Provide quality service to internal staff and external clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Support operations by participating in meetings and team functions as required.

Salary Range: $21.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Overview

The Associate Exhibit Builder supports the fabrication team while learning to build interactive exhibits, interpretive displays, themed environments, and structures from shop/construction drawings and specifications, under the direct guidance and supervision of experienced Exhibit Builders and the Production Manager. This is an entry‑level, hands‑on learning role designed to build the skills needed to grow towards an Exhibit Builder position.

Essential Functions
  • Provide fabrication, assembly and finish carpentry support for exhibits, displays, scenic facades and graphic signs using both common and unusual materials as required to satisfy the demands of the project.
  • Operate standard shop tools and various hand power tools required in the fabrication and assembly of final products.
  • Prep, and finish structures and components with a variety of materials and techniques.
  • Assist with installation of exhibit structures and devices into final exhibition spaces both inside the shop and at client locations as required.
  • Provide quality service to internal staff and external clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Support Roto operations through participation in meetings and team functions as required.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • No prior professional experience required. 0–2 years of related experience required. Relevant experience through coursework, or hands‑on personal/hobbyist projects in woodworking, carpentry, construction, or a related trade is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Genuine interest in learning cabinet making, fine carpentry, and exhibit fabrication.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools; mastery of power tools, saws, routers, or drills is not required.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced shop environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended work hours may be required.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs) and work from lifts, ladders and high platforms.
  • Must be able to work in shop conditions which may include changing temperatures and conditions.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with team members and clients.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist, squat, and stand for prolonged periods of time (upwards of 8+ hours).
  • Requires the physical dexterity to build, prototype, and install exhibits.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
