Job description

About Metis Strategy

Metis Strategy, a management and strategy consulting firm, focused on the intersection of business and technology, continues to grow and is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our San Francisco Bay Area team. We are trusted advisors to Fortune 500 and Global 1000 companies, helping them meet their most critical business objectives through tailored engagements and deep professional relationships. We work across industries on topics related to business & digital strategy and navigating organizational change.

We are an entrepreneurial, fast-growing firm headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Dallas, Texas. The firm’s presence from coast to coast allows us to serve clients throughout the United States and internationally. In our 20+ year history, we have established a track record of making lasting impacts on organizational performance and helping executives improve business outcomes. In a career with Metis Strategy you will experience high growth as you encounter new challenges with each client engagement; have a high degree of autonomy to craft the direction of your work; and become empowered to work directly with thought-leaders, C-level clients, and other decision-makers.

Responsibilities of an Associate

The Associate will work across our executive networks, Technology Leadership Institute, and Metis Strategy Summit, combining research, content development, participant engagement, and program execution.

Research, content development, and participant engagement
  • Conduct bespoke research for executives on topics they are actively working on, translating findings into concise, practical materials for a senior audience.
  • Facilitate connections across the Metis Strategy ecosystem by identifying members with complementary challenges, relevant experience, or shared priorities.
  • Build familiarity with members and participants over time, track their priorities and interests, and help identify opportunities for relevant content, connections, and engagement.
  • Review and synthesize notes, recordings, and materials from executive network meetings, leadership trainings, conferences, and other executive interactions into clear themes, questions, and insights.
  • Develop and organize materials for executive network meetings, including discussion guides, research briefs, agendas, and participant materials, working collaboratively with facilitators and program leads.
  • Draw on the firm's research, consulting engagements, and executive conversations to strengthen program content and participant deliverables, while routing relevant insights from executive settings back to teams across the firm.
Program development and execution
  • Contribute to Summit agenda development, including topic framing, session structure, speaker research, and recommendations about how executives should be grouped.
  • Draft and coordinate communications across the Summit cycle, from speaker outreach to attendee correspondence.
  • Develop session content, participant materials, and pre-work for the Technology Leadership Institute, our training program serving CIO direct reports, and support ongoing engagement with participants after the program concludes.
  • Help plan executive network meetings, including identifying discussion topics, shaping agendas, preparing facilitator materials, and coordinating participant needs.
Building and scaling the portfolio
  • These programs are meant to get bigger and better, and building them is part of the job. You will research prospective members, participants, speakers, and sponsors; develop materials that support growth conversations; test new program formats; and analyze participation, engagement, and feedback to identify what should change.
  • Approximately 30–35% of the role is operational, with that share increasing around major events. Responsibilities include speaker logistics, meeting and event preparation, and the creation of sponsorship materials. We expect you to bring rigor to this work while identifying repetitive tasks that can be automated using firm-supported AI tools.
Qualifications and Expectations
  • 2–6 years of post-undergraduate professional experience, ideally including substantive research, writing, or program work for senior executive audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience researching, writing about, or supporting work related to enterprise technology, digital strategy, AI, data, cybersecurity, or technology leadership for a senior audience.
  • Strong interest in technology leadership and genuine curiosity about how senior technology leaders think, decide, and prioritize.
  • Experience with C-level events is a plus
  • Strong proficiency with presentation and spreadsheet applications such as PowerPoint and Excel, as well as regular use of leading AI platforms such as Claude or ChatGPT. Experience with a CRM system and data visualization tools is a plus
  • Day-to-day, we work fully remotely, though occasional travel will be required. We also value time when we can get together as a team and host regular in-person offsites to maintain our collaborative culture
  • Work status: Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship is preferred
What We Look For
  • Leadership: Confidence balanced with humility, sound judgment, creativity, and empathy, with the maturity to work effectively alongside senior colleagues and executives.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex ideas concisely, tailored appropriately for different audiences (executive to operational) and media (presentations, white papers, emails, etc.)
  • Problem Solving: Innovative problem-solving skills and entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to turn ideas into action in pursuit of personal, team, and firm growth targets
  • Relationship Orientation: Willingness to learn from, and collaborate with, others to build strong relationships with clients and team members
  • Curiosity: Deep interest in enterprise technology and how senior leaders make decisions. We want someone who treats AI as a thought partner rather than a substitute for thinking and who can tell when its output is thin, wrong, or generic.
What Metis Strategy Has to Offer

Associates in this role gain exposure to senior technology leaders from Fortune 500 and Global 1000 companies through our executive networks, leadership programs, and Summits, while developing skills in research, writing, executive programming, and communication. Successful candidates will be motivated by the desire to make a difference by helping expand the Metis Strategy ecosystem, helping our clients achieve and maintain strategic and operational excellence, and continuously improving their own skill set.

This position is also eligible for bonus compensation. Additional benefits include but are not limited to:

  • comprehensive medical insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance;
  • parental leave and family benefits;
  • retirement contributions;
  • stipend for continued learning;
  • paid time off, and more.

Compensation and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with each candidate's qualifications and relevant work experience.

If you want to help design insightful experiences for technology leaders at some of the world’s biggest companies, you will enjoy being part of our team.
