Job summary

Qualifications

  • Plant Access Training and Radiation Safety Training including Respirator Qualifications.
  • Radwaste Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate manual and remotely controlled equipment from non-control room locations.
  • Determine operating status from previous shift logs and entries.
  • Check causes of operating problems and report to supervisor.
  • Maintain a log of unusual events and changes in conditions.
  • Provide direction and operations training to personnel.
  • Perform fire protection duties and incident response tasks.
  • Support decon, housekeeping, painting, and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform emergency response duties as assigned.
  • Complete the Equipment Operator qualification book.

Primary Purpose Of Position

Operates, inspects and services plant equipment usually contained in a nuclear power plant.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities
  • Operates manually controlled equipment and remotely controlled equipment from locations other than the central control room.
  • Determines operating status of equipment from previous shift personnel and log entries.
  • Checks cause of operating problems and reports to supervisor.
  • Maintains a log recording unusual events and changes in operating conditions.
  • Provides direction and provides operations training of all personnel.
  • Perform fire protection duties such as response to fire, rescue, hazardous material incidences, first aid requirements, logs and record keeping.
  • To be assigned as needed to support decon, housekeeping, painting work and other duties as assigned by the Company.
  • Performs emergency response duties as assigned.

This position requires the completion of the Equipment Operator qualification book.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must meet the ANSI standard for this position.
  • Must also have ability to read basic diagrams and prints;
  • Must pass required NRC license physical examination. Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of this position.
  • Must pass the POSS and BMST
  • May be subject to certification and recertification with periodic reviews if required by NRC or industry standards.
  • Must meet requirement of NRC psychological testing regulations.
  • Must satisfactorily complete Plant Access Training and complete the Radiation Safety Training including Respirator Qualifications and maintain unescorted access.
  • Must complete fire brigade member qualifications based on operational needs.
  • May be required to obtain CPR certification based on operational needs.
  • Must complete Radwaste Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of technical experience, which includes any of the following: work performed in power production, petrochemical or other industrial process plants during operational, maintenance, design, or training activities. Alternative relevant experience examples include operation and maintenance of equipment, such as HVAC, electrical and maintenance technicians. OR
  • 2 years of experience in operations or maintenance of a non-generating nuclear power facility (e.g. Navy Nuclear operations or maintenance training/experience or operations or maintenance experience at a DOE facility) OR
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science program OR
  • An Associates of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology or related science program OR
  • 43 credit hours of post-secondary education of which 75% (at least 8 courses or 32 hours) is advanced math, physics, chemistry and/or engineering/engineering technology.
