Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. seeks a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to support Jackson manufacturing operations by leading continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing production methods, tooling, and equipment.

  • BS Engineering or Engineering Technology (prefer Mechanical Engineering background) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drives continuous improvement principles throughout the machine shop.
  • Day to day manufacturing process support of production teams (methods, tooling, equipment, problem solving).
  • Provides resources required by the shop floor to meet objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (drawings, time studies, development of production rates, routing maintenance, REA & ECN processing, capacity planning, work center maintenance, new product quoting, standard work development, and P-order tracking).
  • Ensures process capability by providing necessary resources to the shop floor including equipment, tooling, fixturing, methods, and processes.
  • Works closely with manufacturing supervisors and other support groups to resolve issues related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop manufacturing processes to meet goals.
  • Responsible for implementing cell design and SMED Kaizens in the manufacturing areas to transform value streams to future state.
  • Supporting new product introductions by ensuring process capability and production readiness.
  • Facilitates kaizen events for continuous improvement through elimination of wastes.
  • Management of capital projects to introduce new manufacturing technology.
  • Satisfies internal and external customer & supplier commitments.
  • Understands environmental policy and impacts of their work activities.

Job description

This role will support the machining manufacturing areas through focus on continuous improvement and the attainment of safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets. Responsible for manufacturing engineering support activities to support Jackson manufacturing operations as outlined below.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drives continuous improvement principles throughout the machine shop.

  • Day to day manufacturing process support of production teams (methods, tooling, equipment, problem solving).

  • Provides resources required by the shop floor to meet objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (drawings, time studies, development of production rates, routing maintenance, REA & ECN processing, capacity planning, work center maintenance, new product quoting, standard work development, and P-order (prototype) tracking).

  • Ensures process capability by providing necessary resources to the shop floor including equipment, tooling, fixturing, methods, and processes.

  • Works closely with manufacturing supervisors as well as other support groups and technical leaders to resolve issues that arise as related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Develop manufacturing processes to meet goals.

  • Responsible for implementing cell design and SMED Kaizens in the manufacturing areas to transform value streams to future state.

  • Responsible for supporting new product introductions by ensuring process capability and production readiness.

  • Facilitates kaizen events for continuous improvement through the elimination of wastes.

  • Management of capital projects to introduce new manufacturing technology.

  • Satisfies internal and external customer & supplier commitments.

  • Understands and follows the Jackson site’s environmental policy and the environmental impacts associated with their work activities

  • Perform any other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
Education Required** :**
  • BS Engineering or Engineering Technology (prefer Mechanical Engineering background) or equivalent experience.
W** ork Experience Required ** :
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility with the following experience preferred:
    • Good knowledge of lean manufacturing
    • Manufacturing / Industrial engineering background
    • High speed stamping presses
    • Heat treatment
    • Steel grinding
    • Blister sealing equipment
    • Laser welding
    • Laser etching
    • Machining equipment and tooling experience
    • SMED project experience
    • Capital project management experience
S** kills & Knowledge Required:
  • Proficient computer skills, including AutoCad, Creo/CATIA & MS applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once

The Salary range for this position is $64,400.00 - $103,700.00

  • This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements.
