Responsibilities

  • Specify special tools and fixtures to be used in assembly processes where required.
  • Estimate cycle times and costs for each operation in the process.
  • Maintain control of OEM drawings and revisions.
  • Ensure that the Assembly process is capable of producing parts to customers’ specifications.
  • Modify the process and update related documentation (PSO, etc.).
  • Support continuous improvement of all quality-related findings.
  • Maintain engineering documents according to TS 16949 and transmit information to other departments.
  • Write concise and direct work instructions for assembly requirements in each operation.
  • Attend production meetings and disseminate information to team members.
  • Deliver presentations to customers regarding downtime, defects, launches, system errors, audits.
  • Identify training needs and participate in training as required.
  • Comply with OSHA and EPA regulations; report noncompliance.
  • Report defects in PPE, devices, or clothing to management.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area; operate in TS 16949 system.
  • Promote safety in the workplace; attendance and punctuality.
  • Overtime and weekend work as required.
  • May participate in training for hazardous materials handling.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Associate Engineer is responsible for providing support for all Engineering requirements on the Module Lines, workingas partof a Task Force Team for line operations, assisting with implementation of process improvements, recommending tooling requirements, keeping records, managing assets, corresponding with associated departments,leading projects, performing time studies, and assisting with line of balance management.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Specify special tools and fixtures to be used in assembly processes whererequired
  • Estimate cycle times and costs for each operation in the process
  • Maintain control of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drawings and revisions
  • Ensure that the Assembly processis capable of producingparts to customers’ specifications
  • Modify the process and update all relevant documentation whenrequired(ex: Process Sign-Off [PSO] and other production documents)
  • Support continuous improvement of all quality-related findings
  • Maintain engineering documents according to TS 16949 requirements andtransmitinformation to other departments
  • Write concise and direct work instructions for assembly requirements in each operation
  • Attend production meetings asrequiredanddisseminateinformation to relevant team members
  • Deliver presentations to customersregardingtopics such as downtime, defects, new vehicle launches, system errors, cooperative projects, and audit activities
  • Work in conjunction with Manager toidentifytraining needs andparticipatein training asrequired
  • Work in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and report noncompliance
  • Report defects in protective equipment, devices, or clothing to management
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Operate in full compliance with TS 16949 system
  • Comply withand promote safety in the workplace
  • Prompt, regular, predictable attendance
  • Physical presence at work during all scheduled work hours
  • Overtime and weekend work asrequired
  • Required to work with, handle, store, or otherwise manage hazardous materials, and mustcomply withall applicable regulationsestablishedby the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Responsibilities include ensuring safe and compliant management of hazardous materialsin accordance withstate and federal regulatory requirements.
  • May berequiredtoparticipatein training for handling of hazardous materials.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY & SCOPE

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and elevate matters as required

Required Education & Experience:

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD programs
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma
  • Degree in Engineering

Working Conditions: Office setting, some walking within and between buildings

  • 70% in office, 30% on production floor
  • Traversing production floor
  • Use of protective equipment, devices, and clothing
  • Ascending/descending ladders
  • Lifting 40-50 lbs.
  • Possible international travel to Headquarters
  • Domestic travel to customers, suppliers, or other sites as needed
  • Overtime and weekend work as needed
