Job summary

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) seeks an Associate Electrical Repair and Modification Technician to join our Executive Fleet team in San Antonio, TX. This role performs electrical modifications and repairs, reads engineering drawings, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.

Applicants should have 4+ years of experience in avionics and electrical theory, be able to work variable shifts including weekends, and hold or pursue FAA certification.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with electrical/electronic theories and avionics systems.
• 4+ years of experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and SOPs.
• 4+ years of experience with component and wire installation, repair and testing.
• Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specs, and retrofit requirements.
• Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring.
• Perform assembly, installation, and inspection of wire harnesses and electrical assemblies.
• Troubleshoot avionics and comms/nav-systems malfunctions in aircraft.
• Maintain safety and proper use of all equipment and tools.
• Coordinate, prepare, and move materials and tools as required.
• Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads up to ~35 pounds.

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for Associate Electrical Repair and Modification Technicians to join our Executive Fleet team in San Antonio, TX.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring
• Ability and understanding of routing instructions and handling of harnesses.
• Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modifications and repairs
• Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring
• Perform assembly, installation, visual inspection of physical characteristics, modification of wire bundles & electrical assemblies, operational and quality checks of aircraft
• Troubleshoot organizational and depot maintenance level malfunctions in aircraft electrical and comms/nav-systems
• Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc...
• Use all equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
• Perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material and tools
• Operate riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments
• Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work.
• Perform all duties of lower Electrical classifications as required to successfully accomplish assignments
• Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds

This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• 4+ years of experience with electrical/electronic theories and avionics systems, shop mathematics and practices
• 4+ years of experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.
• 4+ years of experience with component and wire installation to include repairing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting new, experimental, and disturbed systems
• Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and overtime

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• FAA certification in Airframe and/or Power Plant
• Active US Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher

Summary Pay Rate: $79,000 / $37.98 per hour

Additive Pay

• $1.00 per hour for Airframe Certification
• $1.00 per hour for Powerplant Certification
• $3.00 per hour increase once employee receives their Special Program Access clearance
