Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation, a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, offers an Associate Electrical Engineer role to assist senior engineers in HVAC and motor control product design, testing, and support. You will prepare release packages, interact with customers to capture requirements, and help drive ECN/CAR-based manufacturing changes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering (Master’s preferred), hands-on troubleshooting, and experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Engineering required.
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • Design experience in product development/manufacturing in capital equipment industry.
  • Electrical troubleshooting on components, PCBA's, power supplies, filters, motors, etc.
  • Knowledge of electronics test and measurement tools (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, etc).
  • Strong technical writing for design inputs/outputs, qualification activities, regulatory requirements.
  • Clear written and oral communication across organizational levels.
  • Ability to support NPD and production; use Microsoft Office and BOM creation.
  • Experience with PCB schematic/layout software.
  • Knowledge of quality control, PLM, and business processes.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Understanding of PLC, PIC, Microprocessors.
  • Knowledge of motor control architectures and power electronics.
  • Programming knowledge (C++, C#, Assembly).

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior engineers to learn, support, and design HVAC and Motor Controls products.

  • Interface with customers to determine design requirements and create specifications.
  • Perform proof of concept experiments and bench testing for viability.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to implement changes via ECN/CAR.
  • Support product failure investigations.
  • Conduct robust root cause analysis and drive corrective action.
  • Ensure component reliability through vendor validation and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead/support cost reduction and quality improvement projects.
  • Perform End-Of-Life engineering activities.
  • Occasional travel to customers and suppliers.

About This Role The Associate Electrical Engineer contributes to the innovation of HVAC and Motor Control technologies by assisting senior engineers in high-level design tasks, troubleshooting, and product support in a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with senior engineers to learn, support, and design HVAC and Motor Controls products.
  • Prepare release packages consisting of Bill of Materials, drawings, fixtures/tooling, and more.
  • Interface with customers to determine critical design requirements and create design specifications.
  • Create and perform proof of concept experiments as well as bench level product testing to ensure product viability and technology robustness.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to coordinate implementing engineering and process changes of revised products through ECN's and CAR's.
  • Support product failure investigations.
  • Perform robust root cause analysis of production issues, product design issues, implement appropriate containment, and drive corrective action.
  • Ensure component reliability based on technical & lab validation of vendor's designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead/Support engineering product cost reduction and quality improvement projects
  • Perform component End-Of-Life engineering activities.
  • Occasional travel to customers and suppliers is required
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Engineering.
  • Design experience in product development and/or manufacturing environment in a capital equipment industry.
  • Knowledge of how to conduct fundamental electrical troubleshooting on electrical components, PCBA's, power supplies, filters, motors, and other electromechanical components etc.
  • Experience with electronics test and measurement tools (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, etc).
  • Requires strong technical writing in support of design inputs, design outputs, qualification activities, regulatory requirements, and related pursuits.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to perform various functions in support of new product development (NPD) and production support.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Bill of Material (BOM) creation and manufacturing process knowledge essential.
  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout software package.
  • Knowledge of quality control principles, business processes, and PLM principles.
  • Demonstration of strong time management skills.
  • Understanding of PLC, PIC, Microprocessors.
  • Knowledge of motor control architectures and power electronics.
  • Programming knowledge (C++, C#, Assembly).
Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $53,000.00 - $106,000.00 annually.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
