Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Clifton, NJ, seeks an Associate, Electrical Engineering to design and analyze FPGA hardware for avionics and space subsystems, using VHDL and MATLAB. You will perform simulations, design reviews, and contribute to complex circuit card assemblies in a defense tech environment.

The role requires DSP and digital communications knowledge, scripting for automation, MEMS packaging exposure, and the ability to work within time/cost constraints on high-density interconnect

Qualifications

• Eligible candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science or related field or have graduated within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, modify, test and evaluate FPGA and programmable hardware.
• Design complex circuit card assemblies to support avionics and space subsystems.
• Digital design requires programmable logic, VHDL and digital communications knowledge.
• Modem design including SATCOM and software-defined radios with DSP/FPGA experience.
• DSP design with MATLAB, algorithm development and software coding.
• Microelectronics design with MEMS packaging knowledge.
• Experience with high density interconnect and semiconductor packaging desired.
• Determine design approaches and parameters; feasibility within time and cost constraints.
• Utilize modeling tools to establish data, conduct tests and evaluate results.
• Select components based on specification analysis and reliability; run simulations and present reviews.
• Write scripts to control synthesis and build tools.

Job Description

• Determine design approaches and parameters
• Perform system analysis to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
• Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results
• Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
• Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers
• Write scripts to control synthesis and build tools

Essential Functions

• Design, analyze, modify, test and evaluate FPGA and programmable hardware
• Design complex Circuit Card Assemblies to support Avionics and Space customer’s photonic subsystems and integrated communication systems
• Digital Design requires programmable logic, VHDL language and digital communications systems knowledge
• Modem Design (including SATCOM, wireless, cellular and software defined radios) requires knowledge of digital communications systems, waveform generation and signal processing, FPGA design (in VHDL) and familiarity with Digital Signal Processors chips
• DSP design positions require knowledge of digital signal processing techniques, algorithm development, software coding and simulation/modeling using MATLAB
• Microelectronics Design requires training in advanced electronics packaging and MEMS technology
• Experience with high density interconnect and semiconductor packaging technology is desired

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $71,000 - $132,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
