What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
- Write, edit, and publish a high volume of news and culture content daily, from breaking stories to reported features
- Collaborate closely with editorial, audio, and social teams to ensure cohesive, timely coverage across platforms
- Identify emerging stories relevant to Black audiences and elevate them with context
- Participate in real-time coverage during breaking news moments, coordinating closely with teammates
- Apply SEO best practices to improve content discoverability while maintaining editorial integrity
What is Required (Qualifications)
- 1–3 years of experience in digital journalism, web producing, or content creation
- Proven experience writing and editing online content, including articles and social media copy
- Familiarity with CMS publishing tools and basic image editing skills
- Working knowledge of SEO, tagging, and content optimization best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field preferred, but strong experience is acceptable
