Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ is seeking an Associate Director, Treasury Benefits Finance to oversee forecasting, budgeting, and monthly close activities for more than $1 billion in employee benefit expense, coordinating with HR, Legal, Tax and local finance teams. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, at least five years in finance, and strong Excel skills; CPA is preferred.

Our Support Functions deliver critical services and provide strategic recommendations that help enhance our workplace and strengthen our organizational culture. These functions include Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Legal, Procurement, and Administration. Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director, Treasury Benefits Finance, is responsible for providing financial support for domestic and global benefits programs. Key responsibilities include forecasting, financial analysis, accounting, reporting, compliance, and funding. Primary Activities: Partner with and support Human Resources, Legal, Tax, and local finance teams on strategic benefit design changes and related initiatives. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly and quarterly close activities related to more than $1billion in employee benefit expense. Ensure the efficient and compliant funding of more than $1billion in employee benefits spend. Prepare schedules and analyses to support the company’s quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Provide oversight of global and domestic third-party service providers; maintain adherence to internal controls and support ongoing compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Required Experience and Skills: Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in an accounting or finance role. Ability to work independently, accurately, and effectively under time constraints. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, project management, and collaboration skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and demonstrated ability to work with large data sets.

Preferred Experience and Skills: CPA certification. Familiarity with accounting and financial statement preparation. Demonstrated client-facing experience. Audit experience preferred.

The salary range for this role is $129,000.00 - $203,100.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
