Job Title: Associate Director, Scientific & Competitive Analysis, Global Oncology

Location: Cambridge, MA

Responsibilities
  • Consult with Commercial and R&D teams as a strategic partner to achieve and maintain competitive leadership.
  • Lead, create and deliver integrated insights across multiple sources; provide competitive landscaping and analysis to inform brand strategies, clinical development strategies for pipeline, disease area strategies, and business development/external partnership opportunities.
  • Project manage and provide operational excellence; engage in data-driven, cross-source insights, recommendations and alignment for action.
  • Develop competitive landscape analysis, understand business needs, identify knowledge gaps, and perform primary and/or secondary competitive intelligence to fill prioritized gaps.
  • Communicate integrated insights to relevant stakeholders with urgency; leverage internal market planning, business development, and forecasting streams for long- and short-term impact.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in predicting and planning solutions to achieve successful execution; exercise decisiveness in strategic elements and align methods for studying strategic issues; manage budgets, scope and programs; identify competitive strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Apply advanced understanding of CI processes, ethics and compliance, and specialize in CI execution for strategic-to-tactical recommendations.
  • Provide leadership in synthesis of primary and secondary CI, forecasting impact, and data management to advise development, execution and monitoring of specialty pharmaceutical leadership status.
  • Negotiate and influence in a consultative role; monitor competitive activity, anticipate issues and enable scenario planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders across commercial, medical affairs, patient value and access, R&D, corporate communications, and patient advocacy.
  • Plan and facilitate key Competitor Workshops (War Games, Gap Analysis, Scenario Planning) within the Oncology Business Unit to prepare teams for future competitive threats.
  • Define and execute competitive intelligence activities required to support global clinical development and commercialization of Takeda Oncology’s portfolio and future business development.
  • Summarize key competitor events and CI activities for stakeholders and align with forecasting and market research activities.
  • Develop and implement new and innovative solutions to meet business needs and resolve issues.
  • Develop, implement and maintain project management of CI projects.
  • Continuously improve internal stakeholder relationships across multiple groups.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
  • BS in a life science; plus MS/MBA/PhD or equivalent, 7+ years of experience in the healthcare industry with exposure to pharmaceutical product development.
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary research methodologies and industry resources.
  • Knowledge of competitive intelligence techniques; strong verbal presentation, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced understanding of CI processes, methods, ethics and compliance, with bench strengths in CI execution for strategic-to-tactical recommendations.
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices and leadership in specialty pharmaceutical commercial operations, and use of CI to drive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership in synthesis of CI, forecasting impact, competitive intelligence and data management to advise development, execution and monitoring of leadership status.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence in a consultative role.
  • Proactive ability to monitor competitive activity and perform scenario planning.
  • Proven consultative influence, communication and presentation skills (organizational, written and verbal).
  • Expertise in CI research methods for integration with specialty pharmaceutical data sources for strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks of varied complexity and delegate effectively.
  • Proven advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Location: Boston, MA

U.S. Base Salary Range: $153,600.00 - $241,340.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, and location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives, medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits. Also, up to 80 hours of paid sick time per year and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
