Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking an Associate Director for the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx.

The role leads clinical teams, oversees high-quality care, and supports education and safety initiatives. Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry and an active NY license are required, with 2–3 years of leadership or teaching experience.

Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) is a state-of-the-art acute service that provides a spectrum of services designed to meet the needs of our diverse clientele, in the most effective and least restrictive manner possible. In addition to providing acute evaluation and stabilization of an adult and geriatric population, it also provides consultation services to the MED, PEDS ED, and the Inpatient Medical units. We are seeking an outstanding psychiatrist with clinical leadership and teaching experience and skills. There are also opportunities for additional paid sessional work, with no mandatory on-call requirement.

Opportunity Details:

• The Department of Psychiatry has 3 Adult Inpatient Units, a satellite CPEP, a Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison service, a Partial Hospital Program, an Outpatient Department, and an ACT team.
• The CPEP Associate Director will be responsible for following duties under the direct supervision of the Medical Director of CPEP.
• Direct supervision of attending psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric PA staff, residents, medical students, and psychology interns.
• Oversee the delivery of high quality, evidence-based care.
• Directly work with leaders in the other areas of the Department including both inpatient and ambulatory programs, as well as the Emergency Medicine Department.
• Assume an important role in Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness.
• Provide leadership in undergraduate medical education including active participation in the clinical and didactic teaching of medical students and graduate medical education of residents.
• Incident review management and participation in departmental IRC meetings.
• Review/revise guidelines for standards of care ensuring that CPEP meets the OMH regulations.
• Provide leadership for all tours.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Active New York State Medical License.
• 2-3 years of experience preferred.

Wages and Benefits include:

• Annual Base Salary: $296,000* based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
• The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $365,600**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below.
• Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
• 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
• Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
• After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
