Job summary

Carrier is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Leader to own and advance category/commodity strategies across global suppliers. You will drive sourcing execution, negotiate with suppliers, and manage SRM programs to improve quality, delivery and cost performance.

You will collaborate with NPD and regional teams, lead large cross-functional initiatives, and manage supplier risk while shaping long-term procurement playbooks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Procurement.
  • 6+ years of experience in Category/Commodity Management.
  • 7+ years of experience leading large cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily/weekly management and support to category/commodity teams.
  • Align with stakeholders to integrate product and manufacturing strategies into category/commodity strategy.
  • Lead category/commodity teams to develop and execute comprehensive strategies.
  • Assess spend, maturity, cost drivers, and supply market conditions.
  • Develop sourcing strategies detailing projects, levers, timing, resources and benefits.
  • Execute sourcing projects including RFx and continuous improvement.
  • Define negotiations strategy including supplier profiles and Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Develop and execute commodity blocking strategy.
  • Manage contract lifecycle and supplier selections under long-term agreements.
  • Collaborate with regional and sector procurement to drive productivity.
  • Manage SRM for strategic suppliers and monitor performance.
  • Engage with NPD procurement for new product development.
  • Monitor supplier risk and mitigation plans.
  • Report on inflation and countermeasures for categories.
  • Ensure cashflow and spend under contract.
  • Present updates at Quarterly Category/Commodity Reviews.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization.

About Carrier

Provide daily management and support to category/commodity team members and ensure proper development and execution of comprehensive category/commodity strategies that exceed both short term and long-term targets. Accountable for all commercial negotiations and supplier selections within commodities. Responsible for developing Category/commodity strategy and playbook. Responsible for management of strategic suppliers through formal Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process and accountable for monitoring supplier risk across all responsible commodities. Engage with Project and NPD and teams to support Projects and new product development (NPD) initiatives.

  • Provide daily/weekly management and support to category/commodity team members while continually developing and expanding individual and team capabilities utilizing the established Managing for Daily/Continuous Improvement (MD/CI) process.
  • Align with functional stakeholders to incorporate product and manufacturing strategies into category/commodity strategy while gaining leadership support.
  • Lead category/commodity team members (direct & indirect reports) to develop and execute comprehensive.
  • Opportunity Assessment for commodity including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis.
  • Develop Sourcing Strategy for commodity detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits.
  • Accountable for execution of sourcing projects including RFx, continuous improvement, consolidation, etc.
  • Responsible for defining negotiations strategy including supplier profiles, commercial negotiations targets, defining switching costs, and building Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Developing and executing commodity blocking strategy
  • Accountable for all commercial negotiations and supplier selections within commodities - exceed spend under long-term agreement and supplier rationalization targets. Accountable for contract lifecycle management and compliance
  • Partner with Regional and Sector Procurement teams to ensure delivery of productivity - lead team countermeasures aligned to commodities and regions/sector
  • Responsible for management of strategic suppliers through formal Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process to improve supplier performance metrics including quality, delivery, productivity, and innovation.
  • Engage with NPD Procurement teams to support new product development (NPD) and new technology introduction (NTI), through preferred supplier and SRM programs
  • Accountable for monitoring supplier risk across all responsible commodities while developing and maintaining detailed mitigation plans for critical components and at-risk suppliers
  • Accountable for team reporting and managing of category/commodity inflation, both mitigation and recovery
  • Accountable for cashflow & spend under contract to meet annual targets.
  • Accountable for delivering commodity productivity through price, value analysis (VA) or continuous improvement projects - responsible for supporting regional/sector countermeasures.
  • Aggregate category/commodity playbooks across team members and present comprehensive team update during Quarterly Category/commodity Reviews (QCR)
  • Strong collaborative work ethic and ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels of the organization.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering
  • 10+ years experience Supply Chain or Procurement
  • 6+ years experience in Category/commodity Management
  • 7+ years experience leading large complex cross functional projects
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Requirements
  • Advanced degree such as a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Strong Analytic experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Direct experience in the development and management of a global supply base
Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

Thisposition is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
