Island Exterior Fabricators (IEF) seeks an experienced Associate Director of IT to lead IT operations, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives across manufacturing and construction tech. The role involves supervising SaaS platforms like Acumatica, Egnyte, and Freshdesk, coordinating with cross-functional leaders, and driving enterprise IT improvements across multiple sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• 10+ years IT leadership experience, incl. 5+ years managing IT teams in manufacturing/construction sectors.
• Experience managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, cloud services, cybersecurity, and enterprise software in manufacturing contexts.
• Experience supporting end users in distributed work environments.
• Proven track record managing large IT budgets for cost efficiency.
• Experience with ERP systems and enterprise-level manufacturing tools.

Our 50-acre manufacturing campus is headquartered in Calverton, New York, and supported by design and engineering offices in Manhattan, Boston, and Hartford.

Job Summary

Island Exterior Fabricators (IEF) is seeking an experienced Associate Director of IT at IEF, to join our leadership team in the manufacturing and construction technology sector. This key role will be responsible for overseeing the IT operations, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives of our company. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing IT teams, infrastructure, cost reporting and budgets, particularly within similar manufacturing or construction organizations. The Associate Director of IT will play a vital role in aligning our technology strategy with business objectives and driving innovation across various domains within the company.

Accountabilities

• IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management and optimization of the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud solutions, and hardware. Own Island's Azure environment at the platform and governance level, including the Entra tenant, identity, and tenant-wide security settings, while Software Engineering manages application-layer resources (e.g., App Services) within IT-defined governance and access controls.
• Budgeting & Cost Control: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that projects stay within scope and budget.
• Strategic Planning: Partner with senior leadership and the CTO to develop and implement technology strategies that drive business growth, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with various departments (e.g., operations, finance, HR) to understand their technology needs and ensure seamless integration of IT solutions to support company-wide objectives.
• Cybersecurity & Risk Management: Lead initiatives for cybersecurity, risk management, and disaster recovery planning to ensure business continuity and data protection.
• Business Application Oversight: Maintain a current inventory of Island's business-critical SaaS platforms (e.g., Acumatica, Egnyte, Freshdesk, and others as adopted) and their ownership boundaries, distinguishing what IT owns, manages, or supports directly from what sits with the vendor, a value-added reseller, or a designated business-unit administrator. For platforms or components where IT holds risk or security accountability, conduct periodic vendor risk reviews (SOC compliance, SLA adherence) and lead integration into centralized systems such as Entra ID SSO where applicable.
• International Infrastructure & Integration: Support IT infrastructure and connectivity needs for Island Facades locations in Central Europe.
• Innovation & Digital Transformation: Identify opportunities for process automation, system improvements, and technology adoption to modernize business operations and enhance productivity.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and other external stakeholders.
• Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data privacy laws, and best practices in IT governance.

• Leadership & Team Management: Lead and manage IT teams, ensuring high performance, clear goals, and strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• Team Development & Mentorship: Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the IT team, ensuring high levels of engagement and retention.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years managing IT teams in the manufacturing or construction sectors (or similarly complex industries).Hands-on experience managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure
• Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure management, network design, cloud services, cybersecurity, and enterprise software applications used in the manufacturing or construction industries.
• Experience supporting end users in a distributed work environment
• Proven experience managing large IT budgets and ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Experience with ERP systems, project management software, and other enterprise-level solutions used in the manufacturing or construction industry
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align IT solutions with broader business objectives.

Salary Range

$120,00 – $135,300

Location

Hartford CT, Boston MA, NYC. Metro areas preferred, with periodic travel to our Calverton, NY HQ regardless of location. Also open to HQ location.

Schedule

Full-time, Hybrid – Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

ADA Requirements

The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while using a computer, along with sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers, mobile devices, and related IT equipment. The role may occasionally involve lifting or moving equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, as well as bending, crawling, or climbing—such as accessing under desks or server racks. Candidates must possess the ability to concentrate, troubleshoot, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills. The role also demands effective task prioritization, management of multiple simultaneous support requests, and a capacity to quickly learn and adapt to evolving technologies and tools.
