Job description

At Lilly, the work is demanding because patients are waiting. We unite caring with discovery to help make life better for people around the world, knowing that every decision, every detail, and every day matters. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life‑changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work—but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

Purpose

As part of Lilly’s Accelerate Reach & Scale (ARS) strategy, Global Medical Affairs is evolving from platform‑centric execution to end‑to‑end, capability‑based delivery of medical content at enterprise scale. The Associate Director (AD), Content Ecosystems – Medical Content Capabilities, serves as the primary business and system owner for assigned global medical content platforms and enabling technologies, bringing an enterprise, end‑to‑end perspective across the medical content lifecycle and translating business strategy and process needs into scalable technical solutions. The AD is accountable for shaping, delivering, scaling, and supporting adoption of Medical Content Capabilities that enable the compliant creation, reuse, management, and global dissemination of medical content — accelerating clinical care gap education and the translation of scientific evidence into practice. The role owns the capability vision, roadmap, integrated program delivery, adoption, and value realization for Medical Content Capabilities, acting as the primary translator between business process and technical execution. The AD partners closely with Lilly’s Technology organization (Tech@Lilly), Quality, Legal, Compliance, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure solutions are embedded into ways of working and deliver measurable enterprise outcomes.

Strategic Capability Ownership & Program Delivery
  • Act as business capability owner and System Owner for assigned Medical Content Capabilities, maintaining an end‑to‑end view across planning, creation, review, approval, and distribution/fulfillment.
  • Serve as the strategic lead for program and project delivery, coordinating multiple projects and workstreams into cohesive, enterprise‑ready capabilities.
  • Translate ARS and Global Medical Affairs priorities into integrated capability roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Own program‑level outcomes, including delivery performance, adoption, and business impact.
  • Make recommendations on future‑state technologies that enable compliant creation, reuse, and management of medical content.
  • Manage operations budget as needed.
Enterprise Partnership & Business‑to‑Technology Translation
  • Act as the primary business–technology integrator, bridging Global Medical Affairs, Tech@Lilly, operations, and compliance partners.
  • Translate complex business workflows and future‑state process needs into clear functional and technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in partnership with Tech@Lilly Product Owners.
  • Represent end‑to‑end business value, dependencies, and trade‑offs in agile delivery and governance forums.
  • Influence prioritization, sequencing, and solution design to ensure delivery supports enterprise outcomes rather than localized optimization.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on system and capability issues for local, regional, and global staff.
Delivery, Adoption & Change Enablement
  • Lead delivery through launch and drive sustained adoption, ensuring capabilities are embedded into day‑to‑day operations.
  • Define and execute change management approaches that align process, technology, training, and communications.
  • Establish success measures that assess end‑to‑end effectiveness (e.g., cycle time, reuse, adoption, quality).
  • Incorporate user feedback and performance data into continuous improvement cycles.
Platform Stability, Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with Tech@Lilly to ensure platforms supporting Medical Content Capabilities are stable, resilient, scalable, and compliant.
  • Ensure solutions support consistent global processes while allowing appropriate regional flexibility.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce fragmentation, eliminate manual handoffs, and improve interoperability across the content ecosystem.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale AI tools, automation solutions, and emerging digital capabilities to strengthen business operations, optimize content workflows, and enable more efficient, innovative, and scalable enterprise capability delivery.
  • Participate as appropriate in industry, academic, and professional forums, bringing learnings back to the organization.
