Job summary

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd seeks an Associate Director of Global Value Evidence Strategy to shape evidence generation across CNS, nephrology, and immunology assets. You will coordinate global programs, drive study design and dissemination, and collaborate with payers, providers, and policymakers to demonstrate value and support market access.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Health Services Research, Public Health or related discipline with at least 2 years related work experience for Ph.D/MD and 4 years related work experience for Master’s degree.
  • Experience in outcomes research including dossier submissions for reimbursement and in design/development of pharmacoeconomic models.
  • Knowledge of epidemiology, economics, psychometrics and medical writing.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and execution of global value evidence strategies by gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing evidence needs across payers, providers, patients, and policymakers to inform market access and value demonstration initiatives.
  • Participate in and demonstrate readiness to eventually lead the Value-Evidence Sub-Committee for assigned products and indications.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of product and indication specific Integrated Evidence Plans (IEP).
  • Design and implement health economics and outcomes research studies globally that support the clinical, economic, and patient centered value propositions, as well as reimbursement requirements for Otsuka products.
  • Implement evidence generation research studies by either collaborating with internal Otsuka programmers and data analysts or via collaboration with external vendors and academic institutions.
  • Support publication planning and execution coordinating with publication teams and Otsuka Scientific Communications personnel.
  • Support preparation of medical or payer advisory meetings to solicit feedback on Otsuka products and therapeutic areas specific disease impacts.
  • Identify and support the execution of projects that directly support the economic strategy for Otsuka products.
  • Evaluate the healthcare economic, outcomes and quality-related value of products/therapies vs. other therapies and/or interventions with data from clinical trials and/or epidemiologic studies/RWE and produce data and tools.
  • Work with payers and other appropriate organizations to uncover their evidence needs and to develop economic tools and models for such audiences.
  • Assist in development and/or develop product dossiers and other projects that support different aspects of formulary submissions.
  • Identify external stakeholders’ needs and develop collaborative research agenda with key stakeholders.

Job description

The Associate Director of Global Value Evidence Strategy supports the development and execution of global value evidence strategies for assigned CNS/nephrology/immunology assets by contributing to integrated evidence plans, coordinating and implementing value evidence generation activities, and ensuring successful delivery of research programs through appropriate study design, project management, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of evidence. This individual develops data that demonstrate the value and real-world impact of products for payers, health technology assessment authorities, and other key stakeholders, supporting value demonstration, market access, reimbursement, and patient access objectives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Education, and Experience
  • PhD or Master’s in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Health Services Research, Public Health or related discipline with at least 2 years related work experience for Ph.D/MD and 4 years related work experience for Master’s degree
  • Experience in outcomes research including dossier submissions for reimbursement and in design/development of pharmacoeconomic models
  • Experience working with consumers of outcomes information
  • Knowledge of epidemiology, economics, psychometrics and medical writing
  • Strong expertise in non-interventional study designs and methodological considerations in the statistical analyses of such research designs
  • Strong understanding of the application and limitations of administrative claims data, electronic medical records data, hospital inpatient data, and patient or physician reported survey data
  • Ability to independently develop research hypotheses, study protocols, and statistical analysis plans
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can deal with complex issues and relate to multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of customer/payer tool development and value dossiers
  • Experience working with and overseeing external contractors and vendors
  • Must possess a strong understanding of the health systems around the world
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills, problem solving abilities, and interpersonal skills required
Preferred
  • Experience working in evidence-generation and value demonstration initiatives for next generation therapeutics to help treat psychiatric and neurological disorders
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Willingness to travel to conferences, various corporate locations, and stakeholder meetings, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required. Requires approximately 10% travel.

Minimum $169,222.00 - Maximum $253,000.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting pay for individuals who are hired in the role to perform in the United States. Other elements may be used to determine actual pay such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
