IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.The Global Environment Director is responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously advancing IREN's global environmental governance framework and stewardship programs across its multinational operations. This role provides strategic and technical leadership for environmental due diligence, permitting, compliance, risk management, resource stewardship, and ESG-related activities, ensuring environmental considerations are effectively integrated throughout the full project lifecycle—from prospective site selection and development through construction, operations, and expansion.

The Global Environment Director will lead the evolution of IREN's environmental systems, standards, processes, and organizational competencies, enabling responsible growth while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and advancing environmental performance. The role will provide oversight and subject matter expertise across environmental impact assessments, baseline environmental studies, permitting, monitoring programs, contractor environmental management, waste, water, and energy management protocols, and sustainability initiatives.

Working closely with Commercial, Engineering, Investor Relations, Community Engagement, Risk Management, Human Resources, Procurement, and Geography Leadership teams, the successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner in achieving IREN's business objectives while fostering environmental stewardship across the enterprise.With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 10 years of progressive environmental leadership experience, including responsibilities across multiple countries and regulatory jurisdictions.

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing environmental management systems, governance frameworks, standards, and environmental stewardship programs.Strong knowledge of environmental due diligence, environmental impact assessments, permitting, compliance management, environmental monitoring, and environmental risk management.Experience supporting data center construction and operations and/or large-scale industrial construction and operational environments.Demonstrated experience supporting greenfield development projects, site selection processes, and environmental permitting activities.Experience managing environmental consultants, contractors, and external subject matter experts.Proven ability to influence and collaborate across diverse business functions and geographic regions.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditor, Certified Sustainability Professional, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent an asset.

Demonstrated proficiency and practical application of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, permitting requirements, and compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions, such as:

Environmental Strategy & GovernanceDevelop, implement, and continuously improve IREN's global environmental management framework, policies, standards, procedures, and stewardship programs.Establish enterprise-wide environmental governance processes, performance expectations, reporting mechanisms, and accountability structures.

Monitor evolving environmental regulations, industry developments, and leading practices, ensuring timely integration into company standards and operational requirements.

Drive a culture of environmental stewardship, risk management, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.Establish environmental performance indicators and metrics to measure program effectiveness and support decision-making.Environmental Due Diligence & Project DevelopmentAdvise on environmental due diligence for prospective data center sites, acquisitions, expansions, and strategic growth initiatives.Oversee environmental screening assessments, baseline environmental studies, environmental impact assessments, and environmental risk evaluations.Partner with Commercial, Engineering, and Development teams to evaluate environmental opportunities, constraints, and mitigation strategies associated with site selection and project development.Provide strategic guidance regarding environmental liabilities, permitting pathways, environmental sensitivities, and development risks during investment and project planning activities.

Support growth initiatives by integrating environmental requirements into project design, development, and execution processes.

Permitting, Compliance & Monitoring

Advise regional and local teams regarding applicable environmental legislation, permitting requirements, compliance obligations, and leading practices across operating jurisdictions.

Establish standards and processes for environmental compliance assurance, monitoring, auditing, reporting, and performance verification.

Support operational teams in maintaining compliance with environmental permits, regulatory requirements, commitments, and company standards.

Identify emerging environmental risks and regulatory developments that may impact business operations and develop proactive mitigation strategies.Build and maintain relationships with regulators, environmental agencies, consultants, and other external stakeholders.Environmental Programs & Resource StewardshipDevelop and oversee enterprise-wide programs related to:Waste management and waste minimizationWater stewardship and conservationEnergy management and resource optimizationEnvironmental monitoring and performance reportingContractor environmental managementPollution prevention and environmental protectionEnvironmental incident management and investigationEstablish environmental performance expectations for contractors, suppliers, and business partners.Promote sustainable operational practices that support business objectives and environmental performance goals.HSE & Sustainability SupportSupport the development and implementation of wider HSE and ESG/sustainability strategies, commitments, and performance objectives.Partner with Commercial, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications teams to support ESG disclosures, sustainability reports, investor communications, and stakeholder inquiries.

Oversee environmental data collection, validation, and reporting processes to support internal and external reporting requirements.
