YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

The Associate Director of Gift Planning Trustee Engagement manages and directs the Trustee Legacy Ambassador (TLA) program, focused on supporting the Gift Planning fundraising goals of The Nature Conservancy. The Director works closely with state and country program staff to ensure the TLA program is developed and maintained in all chapters, develops and delivers resources for program implementation, and develops new initiatives to build the program.

For calendar year 2020, the Associate Director also acts as liaison to the Gift Planning Committee (GPC), a sub-committee of the Campaign Committee, as the Our World Campaign comes to a close.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Associate Director of Gift Planning Trustee Engagement is responsible for leading the strategic priorities of the Trustee Legacy Ambassador (TLA) Program and staffing for the Gift Planning Committee and/or the Trustee Legacy Ambassador Co-chairs by developing and managing plans and related tactics and overseeing day-to-day tasks.

Trustee Legacy Ambassadors are volunteers who encourage and promote gift planning and Legacy Club involvement both at the Trustee level and with key donor constituencies. The Associate Director oversees all program-related communications, data, resources and engagement plans for TLAs and their supporting staff, as well as key stakeholders. The Associate Director partners with Chapter staff and leadership, the Executive Director of Gift Planning and Gift Planning fundraising teams in the strategic review and engagement of Trustee and Board participation in gift planning and The Legacy Club, and helps to lead and advise in the building of plans of action and engagement activities for TLAs. They develop communications & training for TLAs and staff in concert with the Gift Planning Leadership Team. They connect Gift Planning staff with development staff around the organization and support relationships that further the goals and tactics of the TLA program and the Gift Planning Program’s overall goals.

The Gift Planning Committee is a volunteer sub-committee of the Conservancy’s Campaign Committee which works to promote and advance the $1B deferred gift goal of the Our World Campaign. The Associate Director will act as liaison to the Committee in meeting management, communications, project management and activities of the Committee. They will work directly with the Committee members as the Campaign comes to a close in June 2020 and will help plan and coordinate recognition and celebration activities for the Campaign celebration. They will collaborate closely with the Office of the President and others on coordination and alignment of key information and activities.

The Associate Director serves on the Gift Planning Leadership Team and works in close cooperation with any or all of the following: Conservancy staff, donors, Trustees, and vendors. They will lead diverse activities, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions in order to improve effectiveness. They will supervise one member of the Gift Planning team assigned to support Trustee gift planning engagement.

• Financial responsibilities include budget planning and assisting with monitoring and administration of a budget.

• May direct or participate in negotiations for complex or sensitive agreements.
• Minimize legal risk to the Conservancy and ensure legal compliance with applicable state and local regulation.
• Supervise one or more administrative or professional staff, responsibility includes training and professional development.
• Travel frequently and on short notice, work long or flexible hours as needed.
• Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by directives of superiors.
• Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
