Penn State University’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations seeks to hire an Associate Director for Campus Development as a frontline fundraiser representing Penn State Abington campus in Montgomery County, PA. Penn State Abington, home to 3000 undergraduate students, is the most diverse campus among all campuses of Penn State University.

Reporting to Abington’s Director of Development and working closely with Abington’s Development and Alumni Relations team, campus colleagues, and other University partners in the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, this Associate Director of Campus Development will:

  • Articulate Penn State’s and the campus’ needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications, including written proposals
  • Identify and cultivate a pipeline of prospects for immediate and long-term cultivation
  • Interpret research information pertinent to relationship building with potential donors
  • Complete a total of fifteen monthly visits with prospects and donors
  • Work collaboratively with campus leadership, staff, volunteers, and donors to create and implement strategies to secure philanthropic gifts ($2,500 to $50,000 level)
  • Travel throughout the region to pursue these strategies and build enduring relationships, tracked to a fixed and appropriately aggressive set of fundraising metrics
  • Monitor progress toward revenue goals and provide regular reports to the Director of Development.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the campus and its priorities and values

This position requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • A track record of success meeting fundraising goals by personally soliciting gifts
  • The capacity to think and act strategically
  • A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A record of successfully engaging with foundations, corporations, and community stakeholders is a plus.
  • A passion for higher education and an understanding of complex institutions
  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored

Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position’s duties and a valid driver's license are required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
