Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Content Capabilities Lead to drive adoption, governance, and business value realization of content capabilities across the organization.

You will partner with operations, technology, transformation, and content teams to define requirements and shape capability roadmaps. This hybrid role requires strong leadership, change management, and the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Systems, Digital, Communications, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in digital, marketing, content operations, or related fields, including large-scale capability implementations.
  • Experience working in Agile or sprint-based marketing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate business opportunities, challenges, and emerging needs to inform capability investments and enhancement priorities.
  • Partner with technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable solutions and capability enhancements.
  • Champion a vision for an integrated ecosystem that meets current business needs while enabling the future-state content operating model
  • Partner with key stakeholders to prioritize business requirements, capability backlog, dependencies, and future-state enhancements in alignment with enterprise transformation objectives and the HH Transformation Management Office
  • Lead business readiness activities, including stakeholder engagement, change management, training, user communications, and adoption support for internal teams and agency partners
  • Build strong working relationships with capability leads, monitor issue resolution, and collaborate on business-facing documentation, governance, and implementation planning
  • Monitor user feedback and implementation outcomes, and align with stakeholders on enhancement opportunities to drive continuous improvement and inform the forward roadmap
  • Identify opportunities for standardization, simplification, transparency, traceability, and improved speed to market

Position Overview

The Associate Director, Content Capabilities Lead serves as the business lead for content capabilities, driving their adoption, evolution, governance, and business value realization across the organization. The individual partners closely with operations, technology, and transformation stakeholders to define and prioritize business requirements, shape capability roadmaps, and ensure content capabilities evolve to meet business objectives, stakeholder needs, and future‑state operating model requirements. As a key connector across CEI, US Content Op Model, OMM, Content Accelerator, and DHH, this individual drives alignment across the content capabilities ecosystem. They balance current business needs with long‑term capability advancement while championing a culture of continuous improvement through stakeholder feedback, performance insights, and evolving business priorities. The role drives adoption, enhances user experience, and maximizes the business value delivered by content capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

Position Qualifications

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Systems, Digital, Communications, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in digital, marketing, content operations, marketing governance, marketing technology, or related fields, including experience leading large‑scale capability implementation or transformation initiatives

  • Experience working in Agile or sprint‑based marketing environments

  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting platform implementation, business process design, implementation planning, and adoption of technology‑enabled workflows in a complex organizational environment

  • Strong understanding of marketing technology ecosystems, agile ways of working, content development workflows, and cross‑functional operating models

  • Experience partnering effectively with technology teams, vendors, agencies, and cross‑functional business stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions

  • Experience leading change management, capability training, stakeholder engagement, and user adoption strategies for new capabilities or platforms

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, tradeoffs, and value propositions clearly to senior leaders and non‑technical stakeholders

  • Strong problem‑solving, prioritization, and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and influence stakeholders in a matrixed environment

  • Ability to work hybrid at least 3 days per week at our North Wales (Upper Gwynedd), Pennsylvania office

Salary

The salary range for this role is $142,400.00 - $224,100.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.


The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long‑term incentive, if applicable.
