Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Boston, MA is seeking an Associate Director, Core Algorithms (Cloud) to lead the cloud-based ML teams responsible for sleep, recovery, and training insights for members.

You will own the technical vision, drive production-grade algorithms, partner with ML Platform, Sensor Intelligence, and Hardware groups, and scale an ML organization while focusing on user outcomes and robust development practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in ML or applied data science for consumer products.
• 4+ years of people leadership directly managing ML scientists/engineers.
• Experience scaling a production ML organization to improve velocity, reliability, and rigor.
• Deep product sense: translate ML into meaningful user outcomes.
• Ability to evaluate designs, guide architecture, and ensure system-level quality.
• Experience defining and driving cross-functional programs with engineering, product, and science partners.
• Strong communication skills to translate ML concepts to diverse audiences.
• Preferred: experience with physiological or wearable sensor data.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cloud ML team responsible for sleep, recovery, and training algorithms.
• Directly manage applied ML scientists and ML engineers; coach and develop leaders.
• Establish processes and standards ensuring rigor from research through deployment; participate in designs when needed.
• Drive the vision for company algorithms and sensor capabilities, improving member experience.
• Ensure algorithms stay compatible with future hardware generations; collaborate with Sensor Intelligence and Hardware.
• Establish and improve lifecycle practices: experiment management, model validation, deployment pipelines, and monitoring.
• Partner with ML Platform / MLOps to drive maturity across experiment tracking, model monitoring, deployment, and observability.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with Sensor Intelligence, Product, Software Eng, and Research teams.
