Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking an Associate Director - Capital Projects & Infrastructure to lead delivery for a diverse portfolio of utility projects in the Arizona and Southwest region. You will manage cross-functional teams, oversee budgets and contracts, and drive performance using data-driven insights.

With 7+ years of major projects management in power utilities, you will advocate for process improvements, mentor teams, and collaborate with client executives to address priorities and deliver value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, public policy or related field.
  • 7+ years post-graduation major projects management experience in the power utilities sector.
  • Experience with commercial management of large-scale infrastructure programs and budgets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor project teams; coordinate projects and workstreams.
  • Monitor activities, evaluate performance and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Contribute to planning, budgeting and overall strategy.
  • Prepare, review and maintain project documentation and reports.
  • Oversee contracts and financials; report on KPIs and outcomes.

What You Will Do:

As an Associate Director - Capital Projects & Infrastructure for a diverse portfolio of Investor-Owned and Public Utility projects, you would work directly with our Arizona Account Director to serve Utility clients in Arizona and the Southwest. Projects will range from major capital infrastructure, power generation, power transmission & distribution system related projects, and a range of power utility client internal projects within the desert southwest region. You would be joining a team that is passionate about delivering programs and innovation to solve our client's most pressing problems. The Associate Director - Capital Projects & Infrastructure role requires an initiative-taking, driven professional with strong business acumen, a proven track record of success in leading project and program delivery teams within the utilities industry, professional services experience, a solid understanding of utility business operations, and passion for execution and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing and mentoring project teams and coordinating projects and workstreams
  • Managing, monitoring and evaluating project activities and evaluating overall project(s) performance
  • Contributing to project planning, budgeting, and overall strategy
  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation and reports
  • Oversee and maintaining project contracts and financials
  • Establishing and reporting on key performance indicators
  • Analyzing project data and producing insights to optimize performance
  • Identifying problems and shortfalls and proposing solutions
  • Providing operational support such as liaising with stakeholders, tracking timelines, etc.
  • Support the development and rollout of our project management methodology, being a coach and change agent to encourage adoption
  • Coordinating with client account and project teams to develop innovative solutions and proposals to address client priorities and needs
  • Supporting growth and client satisfaction within client account teams
  • May include grants management compliance
What You Will Need:
  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, public policy and/or related discipline AND Seven (7+) plus years post-graduation major projects management experience in the power utilities sector.
  • Work experience must include commercial management of large-scale infrastructure programs to include any of the following: power transmission/distribution, hyperscale infrastructure projects, nuclear power plants, mission critical or multi-state transmission pathways projects.
  • Knowledgeable in all phases of the capital projects and project management life cycle beyond IT project management.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with stakeholder and financial management.
  • Excellent at visualizing project and program data, synthesizing insights, and making data informed decisions.
  • Ability to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team.
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.
  • Proposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with a variety of subject matter experts providing input.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work onsite in Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Preference will be given to candidates residing within 50 miles of a Guidehouse office or Client Office location.
  • Master's degree in electrical or power systems engineering, business administration, or related discipline
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite products (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint)
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or executive audiences
  • PMP Certification #LI-RE1
Annual Salary:

The annual salary range for this position is $135,000.00-$225,000.00.

Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
