Purpose

The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Business Manager supports the ECM business within Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB). The ECM Business Manager is a part of the CIB Business Management (BM) team, which is responsible for advancing strategy, financial management, performance monitoring, and execution oversight of the strategic initiatives across the platform. The role supports delivery of these activities as part of the business management team.

Working closely with members of the business management team, head of and senior leaders within ECM, CIB Sector Heads, Finance, Communications, Business Risk Management, Compliance, Technology, Operations, Risk, Legal, and other control functions, this role helps drive ECM business performance, enable growth, and ensure alignment with CIB and Bank-wide strategic priorities.

This role contributes to the overall success of the CIB Business Management team by ensuring business objectives, strategic initiatives, and financial goals are effectively planned, executed, measured, and communicated.

What You'll Do

Strategy and Business Planning

• Working with BM senior team members, the ECM Business Manager will
• ‑ Support the Head of ECM and other senior members of the team in the development and tracking of the business strategy.
• ‑ Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, and executable roadmaps.
• ‑ Identify market trends, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities to support business growth and strategic decision‑making.
• ‑ Coordinate with CIB Business Management team to ensure alignment of the ECM strategy with the CIB strategy and with other sector teams

Financial Management & Performance Monitoring

• Manage and enhance ECM pipeline process and incorporate into CIB pipeline and monthly reporting
• As part of the CIB Business Management team, they will
• ‑ Support annual budgeting, forecasting, headcount management / planning, and financial planning processes.
• ‑ Monitor business performance against financial and strategic objectives, identifying key drivers, opportunities, and risks.
• ‑ Analyze business metrics and performance trends to support management decision‑making.
• ‑ Partner with Finance to enhance forecasting methodologies, management reporting, and business analytics.
• ‑ Deliver meaningful business commentary and insights to senior management.

Business Management & Execution Oversight

• As part of the business management team, they will
• ‑ Track delivery of key business growth priorities.
• ‑ Collaborate with Sector teams, control functions, and the COO organization to assist with the prioritization of investments in support of strategic objectives.
• ‑ Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders by identifying emerging themes, risks, and opportunities.

Executive Reporting & Governance

• As part of the CIB Business Management team, they will
• ‑ Support the preparation and development of ECM content for Town Halls, Operating Committees, Executive Committees, Board presentations, Risk Management reporting and regulatory forums.
• ‑ Develop clear and compelling narratives that communicate business performance, strategic priorities, and key risks.
• ‑ Ensure reporting is accurate, insightful, and aligned with executive and Board-level expectations.

Stakeholder Management

• Build strong partnerships across other GBM businesses, Finance, COO, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and other support functions.
• Influence stakeholders and drive alignment across competing priorities and initiatives.
• Represent business interests within strategic, operational, and governance discussions.

Culture & Leadership

• Champion a high-performance and inclusive culture consistent with Scotiabank's values.
• Support employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
• Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.

Risk, Control & Compliance
